SingleSue I sometimes wonder why some GPs opted for their profession - some of them don't seem to want to bother with people who need their help.

BZ happy belated birthday! Sorry, I'd no idea when it was. Hope you managed to enjoy it.

Jennihen LOL if I did the giving up things for Lent thing, I'd go with giving up lupus, too.:D

I wish I could go home to Cornwall, this 'relapse' started not long after I moved :( (Sep 08) Is the sun shining Jen?
yes it was beautiful this afternoon. I was doing paperwork and correspondence for a lady who likes her wheelchair parked by the open door so we can see the birds and listen to the stream that runs past her house.
Its the same stream that runs down the back of the garden of the house I'm fated to live in!!

  • In one respect it's nice to see that my GlamSticks designs are reaching a wider audience but it would be also be nice to have had an acknowledgement that this is where the design came from.

My GlamSticks designs are of course copywrited. Sorry if that seems harsh but I have worked really really hard despite personal tragedies and illness to make something of GlamSticks so I have to protect my ideas. The important thing is that people who need mobility support can now have fashionable and exciting designs for their support aids so they can feel better about themselves and not feel they have to hide away.

As a new user I'm apparently not allowed to post with links but the design is called 'Buttons and Spoons' and can be found on the GlamSticks webpage xx
Sorry, I do feel bad but I was advised to write this to protect my designs as they are copywrited. x sorry!

And if you HAD been an established user, you would have seen that your company probably owes a few sales to the people on this thread, as this place is the only way I personally know of your company.

Am I still allowed to use the old stick my DD put glitter on approximately 15 years ago, or do I have to chip that off because you copyrighted the idea first? Would I get sued?

I think it would have been more tactful to post something along the lines of 'and if anyone would like to own sticks ready made by the original designer, they are available from.....'

    Hi
I did feel bad writing it, I actually took advice on what to write and I also asked if I should 'just leave it' but I was strongly advised to say something to protect my future interests. I may 'owe' a few sales to people in this forum and I am grateful for that but do you realise I do the work for free? I only charge for the materials I buy and the 10-20 hours I spend on each stick is done for no charge. Sometimes if I feel the customer has problems affording a stick I offer a discount which means I actually have to pay some of the costs out of my own pocket. I do hope some day to be well enough to make a go of GlamSticks and make it into a business and that is why I was advised to take a stand.
I do hope the fact I work for free will be enough to maintain customer relations and the fact I have tried to protect my intellectual property shouldn't go against me. I also try hard to keep the customer involved throughout the whole process with emails and photographs. I have no problem with someone copying my ideas for their own personal use, just a heads up to the original idea would have been nice. As you said, this organisation has been on the forums so the Buttons and Spoons GlamStick would have been hard to miss.
I'm sorry if I have upset anyone.
By the way, some advice to the buttons crutch person, I can see a potential problem with what you have done with the buttons, some of the buttons are too big and will get caught and pulled off no matter how strong the glue is. Trust me on this, trial and error!

CWTA so sorry your still lurching from one bout of bad health to another, it does get you down doesn't it, no matter how positive you try to be. Any more holidays on the horizon to cheer you up ?

Single sue your doctor sounds just like mine, which is why I never go unless I really have to. I hope you dont have to wait too long for the physio, and that whoever you get is a nice person who will give you some exercises for the other joints too.

    BZ Happy belated birthday

I wasnt too happy earlier today, our local hospital has gone into partnership with another one almost 20 miles away and I had to go all the way to the 'other' one for an app this afternoon, well I thought I did anyway, when I got there they told me I had to go to another hospital about another 15 miles away so I ended up having to go 35 miles for a scan when Ive had them before at my local hospital which is a 10 min drive  The only good thing is it was my DD's day off and she drove me there and back, I would be in a right state if Id had to drive that far myself and even without having to drive the journeys knocked me for 6. I need a cuppa and a large slice of cake to recover.

I don't think debbiedeboo meant any harm. Perhaps you should re-read your signature,

    Ok. :(

Gosh, I feel bad, Wish I could delete everything. I don't want people to argue over this. I had to pay quite a lot of money for trademarking etc and I was just following the advice given to me. I'm not a bad person and I'm quite upset over this. The whole point of GlamSticks is to make people feel better about life and I feel like I messed up.

Jojo, I don't think debbiedeboo has any issues with people making their own sticks pretty with their own designs, but when someone is using one of her designs as an inspiration then she has a right to speak up about it. I'm sure she's not trying to upset anyone!

debbiedeboo, you really shouldn't feel bad.

Also, GlamSticks are pretty big on FaceBook, that's how I first heard about them.
