I give mine the choice of what he wants, but even then I sometimes get it wrong. I'd bought mince for a shepherd's pie for last night, eggs for an omelette, and ended up getting a tin of corned beef from the cupboard and doing a corned beef hash! I think it was one of my best though. :) I'm always changing the mealplans around and looking at the recipe guides so I can find something within the range of ingredients I've got. :) It has saved me no end of money and made me look forward to cooking.
Yeah mine gets choice too, I run the meal plans by him and he always comments if he is not happy (rarely as he will eat pretty much anything bar celery lol). I think having the plans saves the last minute umming and ahing and not having had anything organised!

  • I have been doing a meal plan for the past few weeks and find it so useful and time saving, particularly as I often don't get back from work til half eight and dread the words "what are we having for tea?"

Plus, its stops OH putting random things into the trolley - well sometimes. :D

    This week:
Saturday: Goats Cheese and tomato soup with crusty bread
Sunday: Chicken Fajitas and home made potato wedges
    Monday: Chorizo and Butterbean stew
Tuesday: Jamie Oliver's roast veg and sausages
    Wednesday: Chilli and Baked potatoes
Thursday : Just little ol' me so probably BLT to use up some bacon
Friday: I'm going out so OH will fend for himself.

Feels good to do. Plus I love reading this thread just for inspiration.
How long til pay day?

Just thought I'd update you on the Crab Risotto, because I'm sure you're all dying to know how it turned out! ;)

It's a very strange recipe - sort of half way between a Thai Curry and an Italian Risotto! It contains Thai curry paste, Lemon Grass, Kaffir Lime Leaves, 2 chillis (I only used 1) and a pinch Curry power, together with Risotto rice, Mascarpone and double cream!

It actually tasted fantastic! 1 chilli was gave more than enough "kick" to it.

Need to start looking for next week's experiment now (I like to attempt at least one new recipe a week), although on Friday I'll be doing whatever Gordon Ramsay's doing on Cookalong Live (would have taken part tomorrow except got DS1's birthday party).
