Is it just me or is anyone else finding that meal planning is saving sooooo much money and time ?
Yep, me too. This month I'll hopefully have spent no more than half of what I used to spend three or four months back (back when I wouldn't meal plan cos I wanted to cook according to the mood and freshness of ingredients) - and what's more, I'm all planned out until the end of November - and already have most of the food I'll need for evening meals !0 -
Hi Orkney
Yep...me too :T
I quite often cross things off the meal plan as I have leftovers to concoct things from first:D
Hubbies chilli cobbler was made from a portion of chilli left in the fridge-and then he had it for dinner last night and there was still another serving left -luckily he had it for supper last night....
I find on average I can cross of 2 main meals a week :j ..
Corned beef hash is the best one (one of our faves anyway) -but I do it with dumplings first time round, use some and put a pastry crust on it, and there is usually enough left for either hubby to take a flask full for lunch or to do me a couple of lunches:D tonight Im doing it with yorkshire pud -as I want to try yorkies in the remoska-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -

yes, I agree with mrs macawber, allergra, orkneys, I have saved a fortune meal planning and it helps me focus at work. Before I used to worry endlessly what we were going to eat for tea and nothing was ever organised, hubby used to drive me mad asking what was for tea???
Now I can relax and know its all under control iykwim:D'If you judge people, you have no time to love them'

I give mine the choice of what he wants, but even then I sometimes get it wrong. I'd bought mince for a shepherd's pie for last night, eggs for an omelette, and ended up getting a tin of corned beef from the cupboard and doing a corned beef hash! I think it was one of my best though.I'm always changing the mealplans around and looking at the recipe guides so I can find something within the range of ingredients I've got.
It has saved me no end of money and made me look forward to cooking.
