They are trying the same thing on with me and in addition to putting in £90 baggage fees without asking, have also added in £120 of booking fees that were not in the terms of booking.
A call to consumer direct reveals that they are falling foul of the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982 and are liable for damages, compensation etc.
Whatever you do don't look at this page http://forum.holidaywatchdog.com/Travel-Agents-and-Tour-Operators-HW-Forum-4.
It reveals that they are the TOP company being complained about not by a small margin but by a whopping factor of 22 times more complaints than most companies.0 -
Let me get this right - you went online, selected a flight, chose a holiday, it told you the final price, you entered your credit card details and then as soon as you pressed submit it then said 'we've added £30ppppb, thanks'?
I can't see how they can get away with confirming one price and then only once you have confirmed and paid increasing it? Do you know what airline you are flying with?I'm going for my QuidCo £million!
Total So Far: £9923.580 -
Most times i would agree that you should read t and c before booking, but this seems a blatant case of misselling. IMO the cost of baggage should have been highlited before confirmation0

Net result - booked for £600, charged £700
I have already used the word fraud when speaking to my credit card company.0 -

no.. they didn't..
they selected a flight, holiday, told you the final price, the OP didn't read the Ts&Cs, booked it, and then it said..
WOULD YOU LIKE TO ADD, £30ppppb for your luggage?
yes, it is wrong.. it should be an option before you actually book the holiday... it should not come after completing the booking...
maybe report to trading standards and tell them to sort out their stupid website, because even though i'm one of these people that read ts&cs, i know a lot of people don't, and assume a lot of things..
maybe bring back the flashing letters on websites, or scrolling text...

in reference to the comment above made by mystic trev, all airlines apart from thomas cook now charge for baggage, thomas cook give you 15 kilos but you have to purchase and extra 5 kilos to give you full allowance of 20kgs at 15pp. all low cost airlines do now charge for bags fact!
the costs can range from 12pp to 25pp, ryanair will charge for instance 25pp for 1 hold bag and airport check in. I do understand that if onthebeach isnt informing customers of this until the holiday is booked this is wrong.
What airlines do you know of trev that include baggage in the cost apart from thomas cook. ie charter airlines and low cost??????I am a Travel Agent
My company’s ABTA numbers are P6046. MSE doesn't check my status as a Travel Agent, so you need to take my word for it. This signature is here as I follow MSE's Travel Agent Code of Conduct.0 -

Del, there are many, many airlines other than low cost and charter airlines. Fact. My guess is that mystic_trev was talking about them as you didn't specify them earlier, you said " all the airlines are now charging for baggage, it is standard." :rolleyes:0 -
