Unfortunately you are right in a way because of the value of the item you have to send the item with an insured traceable service, well that’s PayPal’s rules anyway, if he opens a dispute you will most likely loose it as its your word against his. You need to get him to return the item.

It is not paypal 'rules' to use a tracked service and most of the time it would be uneconomical to do so, it is only a suggestion to avoid fraudulent claims of item not received and to protect against claims of fraudulent use of a card (in certain circumstances)..

In any case how on earth would it help here? Tracked or not the item has arrived and if the buyer starts a paypal claim for significantly not as described/damaged it doesn't matter one iota whether item tracks to delivery or not.

if using paypal it is best to know exactly what the risks are and you shoul dnever assume that by paying an exytra £4.50 to send it tracked overseas that you are completely safe against anything thrown at you.

He has opened up a dispute with paypal now. I am so annoyed with this! Am I going to lose my money - can I claim against the Royal Mail for item damaged in post (which is the only way it could have been damaged)
    Any advice much appreciated
  • I believe that the only way you will getting anything att all back from this is to claim from the royal mail. However without the product and packaging which you need to claim, I don't think that there is a lot you can do. Sorry.
    Loving the dtd thread. x
