I dont have any kids, but will be spending £10 -30 each on my mates kids and the OHs neices and nephews. £10 for the ones I am not keen on, and £30 on the ones I like.
OH will get about 1Ks worth of gifts, and will spend about 3K in total, but that does include an action packed 10 nights in Lapland.0 -

I can't understand why spoiling your kid for one day is so important, just so they think "Santa" is great. Hardly a life lesson being learnt or even giving your child enjoyment since it's a one day buzz in most present cases. But each to their own, it's your money after all.
HEE HEE HEE.... just you wait. I said the same thing 6 years ago!:rotfl:0 -
I think a lot of the spending comes from pressure of 'how it looks', not necessarily what you really want to spend.
I don't sign up to that - our girls (12 and 9) usually get £50 budget each - but as I look for bargains throughout the year and get stuff in the sales etc, then the value is far more than the actual spend. Also, these are only the gifts from us - they get others from family and friends and so no need to go mad. Our girls also buy a present through present aid e.g. a cow or water tap etc.. for a family who has nothing throughout the year. They see what they have as a blessing and not a right.0 -
It depends on your income, your expenses, how many children you have and their ages and in my case how many people already buy for them.
Mine have a very large extended family, all buying presents, so that affects what i buy because they get overwhelmed with mountains of stuff and don't enjoy it, there's no room for it!52% tight0 -

Exactly. What could under 5's possibly want that's going to cost more than £50?0 -
