  • Quite a number of hotels give up to 35% discount for disabled people.
    Hope this helps.
  • Can anyone on here tell me if any bank has been successfully prosecuted under this act regarding charges made by bank to people who are in receipt of benefits?

  • My daughter is 9years old and was diagnosed with JIA when she was six.She has been in and out of hospital having her knee drained of fluid several times and is on perminant meds. She takes 15mls Methotrexate and 5mls folic acid each week.I have been fighting with the DLA to get some sort of benefit for my daughter which would help with paying for taxi's in bad weather, school trips and uniforms. She uses a wheelchair to get to school as it is a 1half mile walk each way which is to far for her to walk without causing her pain. The first time I applied just after she was diagnosed they said no,I appealed but that was cancelled.I reapplyed several weeks ago and am awaiting their decision. How comes they dish out money to other people willy nilly but won't give it to people who REALLY DO NEED IT.I am so angry.Any advice, suggestions or friendly chat would be so welcome.Thank you for this thread it will help alot of frustrated people.

Rustyalisha, I started off with a diagnosis of JIA at the age of 14 (I'm now 28) and have had multiple problems with the DLA. I literally won my appeal yesterday and have now been awarded Higher rate mobility and Lower rate care.

If you need any advice, or just to chat, feel free! xx
  • An excellent idea Martin I really hope it is a place of love and understanding for those of us who struggle with disabilities and who have to live on benefits.

Sorry to say they don't dish it out willy nilly. I am in a motorised wheelchair and they made me wait a year, messed up my finances, forced me to take out loans whilst studying, got into arrears, am being taken to court, probably end up homeless. The kicker is they backdated it to the time when it messed up my finances so I am going through all of this for nothing and I have nobody to sue!
  • Hi, both my children receive the above, nearly £200 pm each and I would like to save this for them for when they are a bit older. I dont know where to put it though. Any advice would be appreciated.

This is the first time I have tried to post anything so if I've got it wrong - sorry

The Harry Potter Studio tour allows carers to go in free when you book. you have to take proof of DLA on entering the tour.
  • Great news

I think there should be some sort of id system, both my son and I are disabled but not immediately visible so we are questioned and looked at strangely if we ask for the disabled toilet or something. My son is 4 and has a colostomy bag, I nearly lost a leg. we are treated as liars because we don't carry a white stick or have limbs missing. (sorry rant over bit the larger companies are the worst)
