For future reference when you want to thank somebody all you need to do is click on the thanks button.
When you have done that then the person that you thanked will be able to see it on their account.
I shall thank your post so you can see what I meanI think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.0 -
Woohoo! Went to get new tubes and open fit moulds today, and intended to ask where in the 'funding cycle' I was. But the chap asked how I was getting on, I explained I hadn't been able to wear my aid much lately because of the cyst in my ear, combined with the general misery of bad throat / cough / cold etc.
So he said "it's a while since we did anything for you, I'll get you booked in for review, that aid probably needs replacing and we may be able to give you better moulds."
Just what I wanted to hear!!!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

Got an appointment to get a hearing aid fitted next week. apparently I have 60% hearing in the mid range which is where most speech occurs. My problem is hearing when there is background noise, or if the person has an accent I'm not familiar with. In silent environments, I think my hearing is near perfect. (The hearing tests suggest otherwise!)
Any tips? Anything I should question/look out for?
I haven't told any family/friends/co-workers about this. One of the advantages of gradual hearing loss is that I've learned to become a very good listener (in fact, probably hear more now than I did when my hearing was perfect!) How do you tell people? Don't want anyone thinking I'm wearing a hearing aid for fashion purposes a la Morrisey! :rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Don't worry about it, just put the hearing aids in and use them. You will soon get used to them and realise that even though you thought you had good hearing before it is MUCH better with the aids. Very few people will comment and many won't even notice you have them. Apart from a few who think because you have aids you are deaf....
I have had my aids for around 6 months now and don't even realise I have them in, they just do what they were meant to.0 -
On Wednesday I went to an appeal hearing & was told that I wasn't deaf enough to wear hearing aids. I rang the audio dept on Thursday to tell them what had been said & they have gone mad & like they say i've been wearing them for the last 8years & they wouldn't/can't give out aids to anyone.
I think they said it because i'd complained that the loop wasn't working.
Has anyone else ever been told they are not deaf enough to wear aids?Start every day with a smile and get it over with.0 -
Much to my utter amazement, the NHS are going to provide me with CIC aids. I was so gobsmacked (the first NHS aid I was offered many years ago was the boom box and cable contraption), I can't remember what make they told me they would be, but they did mutter something about needing a 'button' to hear the telly and phone - which I presume means the CIC aids don't have an induction loop.
Anyone using CIC aids? Any info / tips you can offer will be very much appreciated......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

It's not at all uncommon for loop systems to not work, and no-one know how to use them ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
