The advice with dentures is only use cold water never hot otherwise plastic gets brittle and shatters. It cannot be used with silicon as it makes it brittle and fragile.0

I went to Audiology and had the full moulds fitted in both ears and I really struggled and gave up. In the past few months I've been engaging with our local Deaf Support and have had the vibrating smoke alarm fitted and they encouraged me to go back to Audiology. Long story short, but my hearing has got slightly worse again, however I am now sitting here with Oticon Spirit Zest Open Fit Hearing Aids in my ears hearing myself type (early days yet, only had them at 2pm
It's better than the full mould ones as my ears feel less restricted. I just have a couple of questions people may be able to help me out on.
Firstly, if I raise my hands, say as if to brush my hair I get loud whistling in my ears (ouch), and it really doesn't like it if I push my hair behind my ears (I do this alot as I have long hair and wear it down mostly), not to mention putting my sunglasses on. Is this normal?
I was told about the Oticon Streamer to help with mobile/phone/tv (particularly useful at work as I have to use a TV alot play back recordings of staff teaching). This was £260 to buy and if it I wanted the microphone thingy clip it was £150. Has anyone ever tried this? It seems expensive, however I am sure if I explain to work they would be willing to pay (if I get use to the hearing aids).
Thanks
If the aids whistle it is a bad fit, if you want the whistling feedback to be suppressed the Phonak digital Niada range will do this I got them on the NHS.Also try and find a good nose throat and ear clinic in your area, they tend to be better budgeted where there was heavy industry hence more hearing aid users and better experianced.
Have you tried the full BTE ear mould with the centre carved out there are a lot more comfy they are called digifit moulds.(just make sure you have a stock of tubing for them as the tubes split at the most inopportune times) The BTE moulds have to be quite a tight fit to work properly and can be uncomfortable to start with after a few days the will become comfortable. If they don't they are bad impression go back and get another impresion made by a diffrent technican if you can, I had problems getting, good moulds because the technican dosen't have the feel for making impressions. I have used bte aids since I lost my hearing at 5 and I am now 33 so been there done it and got the t-shirt.

This is taking the ****
Not only are these aids free from NHS, they remain the property of NHS, cannot be reprogrammed by anyone outside the NHS, and certainly do not 'Retail at £1500'
Why don't ebay act to stop this sort of thing?0 -
I have reported it to ebay but I doubt it will do much good.
I have also sent a note to the seller looking forward to the reply:DI think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.0 -
What's the problem? This aid may be available on the NHS, but surely it will also be available to private dispensors and different localities of the NHS can choose not to buy it for their patients.
Private dispensors can market aids for whatever price they choose......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Have you considered seeing a private dispenser, and seeking funding through access to work for a hearing aid system that is designed to use withe the phone.?0
