Just a quick question on that. My husband has a B n B internet saver (2) account and the interest rate is now rubbish. Can he just open an internet saver (3) account and transfer all the funds over, or does he have to close the (2) account first. How do we go about this.Any help would be very much appreciated, thanks.

I did.
I can't remember exactly how but I think I had to open a Internet saver 3 and then do a trasnsfer across online and than close the old account.
I rang them and they told me exactly what to do. I know it was very easy. Give them a call.
good luck.0 -

Yes, it's dead easy. Log in to your existing account, and then you should see (if memory serves me correctly) links at the bottom of the page to the various other products on offer. Click on the product you want and follow the application trail. At some point you will be asked if you want to transfer funds to the new account you're creating from an old account.

I've opened an account with B&B as I think it's a reasonably safe bet now and is paying a good interest rate. However it's only fair to warn you that I also had money in Icesave and got on to the property ladder in 2007. :rotfl:0

Seing that it was the UK government that nationalised B+B and then sold it onto Banco Santander it is inconceivable that the government would not safeguard ALL deposits, even if you had millions in B&B, if something untoward happened to Banco Santanderits spanish now. that worries me.Krusty & Phil Madoff, 1990 - 2007:

Yes I feel pretty safe with my saving which are in B n B now, well as safe as anywhere can be0

Yes that is the downside of B&B accounts that only use DD/BACS. Pity that. I've felt the need to move money there in £5000 bytes for that reason. I wish now I'd done it in a one big lump but I needed to feel confidence in them, which I do now. Hope when they move their rates down as I'm sure they will at some point they don't simply make it as uncompetitive as their new owner's accounts are, or worse, merge the accounts with their (Abbey's) esaver. That's interesting because i tried to transfer a fair amount from an old notice account into one of their 'internet saver' accounts which was set up some time ago.
guess what, they wrote to me and said
"We are sorry, we are unable to action your request as we do not have the facility to make transfers directly to eSavings accounts."
so i'll be pulling mine and putting it elsewhere, not for safety reasons though.
but the op should be ok, no problems for him opening a new account
and, apart from that one issue, they have been efficient, i've received emails and written letters to my accounts, the letters bearing the new Abbey/Santander logo as well as B&B.0 -
Some people are shorting santander who own b&b because they have a&l toxic debt plus other recent purchases.
If you wanted to think the worst I guess you could start worrying on that basis0
