nacc.org.uk (National Association for Colitis and Crohns)

A really informative sight for people(or their families) inflicted with either of these chronic conditions.
  • I don't know whether this is the best part of the disability site to post this but someone can put it right if I've got it wrong!

Whilst receiving DLA (at the middle rate) the most useful 'passport' benfit I discovered was entitlement to a free vheicle excise licence (tax disc) this in turn led to a 'blue badge' in my county (Denbighshire). I was then able to get a number of free trips through the Mersy tunnel each year and free use of the Severn bridge. I know there is also a benefit relating to the M6 relief road but did not use that.

These benefits were not easy to find but can be tracked down with careful Googling, knowing they exist is half the battle.

As with all DLA issues the devil is in the detail!

  • Hi foxymynx,

Thank you for posting these links I did not know about fightingrsd. I have found this sight quite usful because the doctors do not seem to know anything. I have a lot of the side effects that the sight mentions. I thought that they were seperate issues, but thanks to you posting this link I now know that it is all related. Knowing it is all related is sort of a comfort. At least I know I am not going mad as I was mad to feel by the Doctors. 'It is all in your head.' is all I got from him. I can not wait to see him again.
    Thanks again foxymynx

    Hi foxy,

Im currently on a workplacement in a mobility shop, we have a forum (they have had it for a few years but doesnt get any traffic and its main purpose was used as a shop) but we are completely overhauling it to improve it steering it away from just a shop based forum to offer advice and support and we are inviting companies and members to offer advice and feedback on latest products etc.

basically its there for general advice on mobility and disability issues and we are trying to improve it by getting more people to join.

    thanks
