Depends how long he is in germany for
If over 10 days he can claim LSA (if he comes back within 10 days he will not get LSA)
If he is getting field conditions and paying accomidation charges back in the mess then he will get that back (if he is only paying food then he will get that back)
You DO NOT get IE for exercise
and thats about it however LOA is quite good so really depends on how long he is thereIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0 -
Sorry, but I think there may be some confusion.
If your hubbie is on an exercise and there is a Detachment Admin Officer allocated, then they will sort out all claims for meals and subsistance for him (this includes the £10 incidentals per day). Unless of course he is in field conditions (which the RAF are most often NOT).
When he gets home he can claim Temporary LOA, no matter how long he was away for, and LSA (Longer Separation Allowance) if he was away for more than 10 days.
There will (should) have been an Op Order produced for the deployment which should state what is and what is not allowed.

This is what I don't understand is why is the wives now getting involved with the husbands claims0

Would like to add that I am not getting involved in his claim. My husband is unsure what he can claim as he is on exercise with the army & they have been told they will only be paid what the army are paid. He doesn't have access to internet in germany & he knows that I come on this website for other money saving advice & he asked me to post a thread for him.
Thanks to everyone else who gave me advise!!!0 -
Gone are the days when you told the wife i only had an extra £50 for going on the exercise and keeping the difference for beer tokens0

not being funny but does it matter if the wives get involved. her husband is away out in the field with no access to the internet/JPA or anything like that.
Being an SAC i've been out in the field a couple of time myself and out to Bastion -my first OOA and trying to remember what you can claim is a bit of a nightmare - especially if its your first time. You go to PSF and the majority of times they are as helpful as a chocolate fireguard (no offence to any admin'ers on here - its just been my experience thats all).
so having all the gen when the 'hubby' gets back would be an advantage because he can then go up to PSF and say I am entitled to this this and this and bam its all done.0 -

Quick update. My husband has been told by his flight sgt that because they are working with the army & the army don't pay LOA in field conditions they won't get LOA either. So my husband is really no happy at the moment. It is the first time since he joined the RAF in 1991 that he would happily leave0

That attitude of we don't get so you can't is really starting to annoy. I am coming across that now in the Falklands. If it says your Husband is entitled to it in either JSP 752 or JSP 754 (ones pay and ones allowances) then he is entitled to it. I'm sure when he returns he should be able to ask his PSF? (sorry I'm in the Navy, we call it something else) if he was entitled to it. If he cannot get it backdated, assuming he was entitled, then a representation should be made. This seems to be happening more and more and all becouse nobody knows what they are entitled to anymore. Hope this is of some help.0

Just looked at JSP 752. This is an extract that be might of some use:
c. Exercise Field Conditions Rate of LOA. The Exercise Field Conditions Rate of LOA is paid when Service personnel proceed from the UK, or from an LOA area, to an LOA area on exercise where Field Conditions of any type are declared. The Exercise Field Conditions Rate of LOA is 50% of the S/MU Full Rate of LOA payable.
I don't know the ins and outs of the situation but that would a good place to start.0
