I'd love to get back out on my bike, but I need a recumbent trike - they are horrendously expensive, way out of my price range
This is probably way off track, if so forgive me please.
Does anyone have the recent able magazine?? I can't locate mine at the moment, but in that magazine in the classified ads section, someone was offering a trike for sale. I can't remember all the details, but the guy had built it himself I think, and gave the total costings. I'm sure the ad gave his email address, if so perhaps someone could email him and ask for any advice.
I've found that cyclers and disabled people generally are two groups who are only too willing to offer assistance and advice to fellow members, where they can.
I do hope someone can find their copy of this magazine and furnish us with more details
Edit, Sorry, I should have posted this on the trike specific thread, can the moderator please move it for me. Thanks.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0 -
Daisy. I have another place for grants etc that is for people at work, be they self employed or otherwise. It is also something that isn't shouted from the rooftops either and that is Access to Work.
I run a blog called Disability Means Business which has some useful posts on Access to Work and how a disabled entrepreneur can apply for specialist equipment or even a support worker. They is also information on how to get grants for your business and government schemes which financially support you until your business is up and running.0 -
There is a wonderful organisation Flying scholarships for the disabled who pay for disabled people to learn to fly. I went out to South Africa a couple of years ago - and had 6 weeks worth of flying lessons. If you can drive a car - you can fly a plane. Here is their web link http://fsduk.org/index.htm0
