Also for parents of a severely ill or disabled child the Family Fund gives grants to help with various things including holidays, washing machines and leisure activities.

There are income and savings limits, but as far as I know they are not restricted to people on means tested benefits (a friend has had a grant recently for her very poorly child, and her husband works).

Here's one that gives grants if you are a biker or want to be a biker - they give grants to adapt motorbikes (no tittering in the backrow please - these are a great bunch of guys and gals who have taught me a lot).

Does anyone know of any organisation that gives grants for disabled cyclists?

I'd love to get back out on my bike, but I need a recumbent trike - they are horrendously expensive, way out of my price range :o

zzzLazyDaisy, great idea for a thread, and it would be really useful to organise the links in the first thread...would you be up for this? (I'm thinking from your username you wouldn't be able to?)

    Thanks

Daisy. I have another place for grants etc that is for people at work, be they self employed or otherwise. It is also something that isnt shouted from the rooftops either and that is Access to Work.

    http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/DisabledPeople/Employmentsupport/WorkSchemesAndProgrammes/DG_4000347

If you have started a new job then you contact Access to Work who will fund the full cost of the adjustments but only during the first 6 weeks of new employment thereafter the employer has to make a contribution.

Also if you look on the site above and you are a longterm unemployed disabled person then you can go on a residential training course.
