What is a NHI number?

    The CHI is your Community Health Index number and is used for health purposes only in Scotland.

    In this case it was an error on an application form, the H was put in by mistake after all this and it was the national insurance number they wanted.

    But the NHI number does exist and is apparently found on things like prescriptions, it is not the same as your national insurance number. Its very strange that there isnt anything about it on the internet though. I'm guessing it must mean something like National Health Insurance number.
