Didn't she count it out in front of you? Can't believe she managed to do that! I would be tempted to keep it but like others have said put it aside rather than spending it just now...and avoid that branch for a few weeks!!

I think the fact that you have had to ask the question in the first place answers it for you. Not going to get into is it right or wrong. Don't know what I would do in that situation but you are obviously not happy about it and at the end of the day YOU are the one that has to worry or forget about it. Would it in the long run be more satisfying to know that you did "the right thing" even tho I think we can all appreciate how tempting it would be to keep it.
I could understand if you did return it but also if you didn't.
At the end of the day tho, give it back and you did a very good thing that you can be proud of. More important than 200 quid I reckon.

I didn't realise it was inside the bank? I don't know if I could live with myself knowing that another human being could possibly get into trouble.

    Cashpoint - yep!!

    Inside branch - no.

    Sorry mate!

Oooh - that's a tough one! Ultimately, whatever decision you make (and don't panic and rush it) will be the one that you want to live with. If you can't reconcile the mistake the cashier made with your conscience then hand it back. If you can then enjoy it and be grateful for it. Good luck with whatever decision you make - I'm sure it will be the right one! ;)

Sorry did the OP definitely have this withdrawn with a cashier? Sorry if i'm being dim cos I couldn't be sure.
If so weren't you watching it being counted?
Not judging I just don't see how if it was being counted out how it could be wrong because no offence, it isn't a massive amount that you would lose count of.
And if it was counted wrong then i'm sorry then the cashier should be in some sort of trouble (i'm not saying sacked) because this is a relatively small amount, not to you OP or me either but in terms of counting it out. It just seems a small amount to have a mistake made with.

The fact that you asked the question means you do really deep down know it's theft... and if the bank realises you have the £200 they will ask for it back...

I found £60 on the floor once and mentioned it on another forum, they all told me I was a thief! I think if it were in a bank I'd take it back, cashpoint or on the floor then maybe not, but in a bank they'll be able to trace me and I could be in more trouble if I've kept it.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

Hiya just asked OH who used to work in a bank. all the records are going to show £800 withdrawl so they wont be able to trace it back to you.

As I said before don't think you have to take it back to stop the cashier getting into trouble. She'll be in the same amount of trouble whether you take it back or not.
