Has anybody bagged a bargain?

In an effort to lift the mood and to dispel some of the gloom and doom out there, I ask for anybody who has purchased a property at what they consider to be a good price to post their story here.
Shall we limit it to properties bought in the last six months? Any tales of how you bought your dream property bucking the credit crunch in the process will be good to read.
Let's have some positive stories which may help to inspire people.

Well, I would classify mine as a good price, as instead of paying £900 a month rent, I'm now paying £715 interest on my mortgage (plus the repayment). (Bought March 2007)
It's not just the money side though, as this is now the longest I've lived in a property in the last 10 years, no one can issue me with an S21, no one can moan at what colour I paint the walls, no rental fees, no inspections, no deductions of deposits for miniscule chips in the paint or microscopic specs of dust under the wardrobe. I can honestly say despite the credit crunch, I've had the happiest 18 months of my life!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

This thread could make painful reading in 12 months when prices have crashed much further0 -
I live in the north and unfortunately there are no bargains to be seen yet, apart from the areas with boarded up housing and neighbours from hell. Although I can expect that in the next 6-12 months there is going to be dramatic house falls. The only houses up for sale are the overpriced ones that have been on the market for months on end.0

I bought a one bed Victorian converted flat in June for £93K which included all the (new) furniture and white goods needed to move straight in. It was a refurb after dodgy tenants apparently. New fitted bedroom, kitchen and bathroom too. I couldn't fault it then and I can't now.
£93K probably sounds a lot for a flat like the one I describe, but even three months later I have not seen anything in this area that comes close, and most of the half decent ones are a good £15K more, and most have flaws e.g. living room kitchen combo, no bath just shower, no decent parking, extortionate management charges (ours is £25 a month and peppercorn ground rental). Also the area is ideal, and other homes close by are marketed as "in a highly desirable location".
Is that upbeat enough for you?
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Thanks to Bogof and Pink.
Great to read both posts - Keep them coming. Who's next?0 -
I'm renting, but I'm happy I found my flat. £450 a month, in an area where a similar place would cost about £600pm... bargain as far as I'm concerned

This isn't a bargain bagged by me but by someone - I spotted in my local paper tonight in an estate agents ad one of those notices saying they were in receipt of an offer of £135000 for a 3 bedroom 2 year old end of terrace townhouse with the full address given. I checked it out on nethouseprices and some poor fool paid £299950 as a new build from Bovis in February 2007! According to Rightmove the property went on the market in June 2008 at £184995 and has been steadily decreasing since then. Today I feel they have bagged a bargain, in six months time.....who knows?0

A lot of my friends are telling me to not buy now as the house prices could come down further but I am very tempted and would buy if I liked a property as I doubt the dame one will still be for sale when the prices go down later on. After all I want a house to live in for good and couldn't really care if the value went down as it would make no difference to me .0
