What phones beep and / or show a screen message until a message is read?

Hope that title makes sense!! My wife currently has quite an old Motorola clam shell style phone. When she has a missed call or text message the small ouside screen displays this (Says 'x missed call' or 'message') and will also beep every 5 minutes or so to notify her. While this may not be to everyones taste, she likes this feature.

(I have a Nokia which leaves an envelope or phone handset icon on the 'screensaver' to notify the same events - equally useful)

My wife has justed moved to a Samsung G600 on a Virgin contract, but the phone does not continually notify of missed calls / messages - instead the screen remains all black when closed.

We plan to change the phone under the 28 day return clause, but would like to know what phones will notify of a missed call / message, after the event.

Some phones on offer include Nokia 6300, Nokia 5220, LG KC 550 and Motorola U9. There are also some Sony Ericcson's but buttons splitting seems to be a recurring complaint, so will probably avoid these!!

So the question is what phones do continually notify of messages and missed calls either by icon or by beeping??

My friend has just got the Samusung U900 and this beeps when you have a missed call or message, it really bugs him but I find it quite a handy feature.

i have a samsung j700 which keeps beeping until u look at a text but not for missed calls

its flippin annoying i find myself yelling at it 'will u shut up i am just coming' lol... hmm mind u i do that to the microwave too <whistle>

Nokia E51 has a while LED at the top, which blinks for notifications like this. I've just discovered some settings for changing the time it does it, up to 2 hours (15 min default). I can't find an alert tone though.

One of my old phones did a tone, and it took me a while to realise, and that it wasn't just a low battery on a choice of about 5 that were lying around

Have you managed to sort it? the J700 is one of the options for my wife, however my daughter already has this phone and I don't think hers beeps!! I'll have to have a look tonight now

My V9 on 3 beeps if I don't read a message or miss a call - every couple of minutes - but I can turn it off if I want

My V8 use to do it too

dont know how many features you want on the phone. but motorola W377 (flashes icon on front) .alerts when closed. butis a basic phones. although the 377 has bluetooth and radio - about £30 from carphone warehouse

This might be a little late but the Nokia 6300 has two blue lights on either side of the phone which flash when you have a text or missed call - something I think is a very useful feature!
