What can I do with BA 10,000 miles?

All,
To cut a long story short, due to delayed lugage and missing items, BA offered OH among other things 10,000 airmiles on top of the 1000 she already had on her account. OH insists with BA that it's not enough due to the amount of hassle but that's all they are ready to offer. She has already been upgraded to first class on her next flight and was given a number of discount vouchers.

My question is: What can we do with 10,000 air miles? No free flight I reckon... and no upgrade too...

  • Why is that not enough for a few bags being delayed? Good lord

Anyway. They add to your total amount. Accrue some more points through flying and then voila.

    Ahrimaniac,
I am a newbie to airmiles, so I don't know if that's an acceptable offer or not. Hence why I am posting.
Oh, and by the way, it wasn't just a few bags being delayed. OH was on a flight from Boston to LH T5, but the bags travelled from Boston to Miami, from Miami to El salvador, back to Miami and finally to London. 20 days later, all courtesy and fault of AA but OH bought the ticket via BA. The bag was vandalised to the point of replacing with a new one and most of the items were gone.

So don't judge before you know the facts, we are not being greedy simply asking if it's a reasonable offer and can she do with it.

Are they Air Miles or BA Miles? I suspect the latter, and that they willl go into your OH's executive club account.

9000 BA miles will get you a return trip to Europe Zone 1 ( Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Switzerland, Utd Kingdom)

    Spending BA Miles

If you bought 10,000 BA Miles (through the BA website) they would cost £175, or £40 of Tesco Clubcard Vouchers through Tesco.com!
    Not even wrong
  • 12,500 miles is enough for a one way upgrade from World traveller plus to club world on some longhaul routes [US and Africa I think] (called miles for upgrade - subject to availability) You can buy additional miles for about £15 per 1,000, upto 19,000 a year.

You could get a return to zone 1 with airmiles for 1500 miles?

so that's 6 free return flights to europe?

    not too bad a deal!!!

    Must be BA miles instead.

  • Pretty good deal to me. Upgrade to F will be worth a few quid, i suspect more than the cost of the suitcase and stuff inside. The 10,000 miles are a bonus, keep saving and they will get you somewhere, we have been quite a few places with the ones we keep saving.

See what the guys at FLYERTALK.COM think.

Just another point - are you sure you've been upgraded to F as if you have you should be a fairly regular flyer with BA and probably top notch, we'll do anything for you sir, status in the Exec club and should really know what you can get with 10,000 miles. (just checking don't get uptight)

BA have Nice on special offer at the moment for 4500 ba miles, so two adults for 9000 ba miles, put in LON to see if flights from LHR and LCY are included.

BUT you have to book an economy flight that is SFU, suitable for upgrade, and some times these are expensive.

Sometimes flights on BA partners in the https://www.oneworld.com alliance are possible.

You can check possibilities on line via your BA/Exec club log in at https://www.ba.com

You can buy any premium economy (world traveller plus) fare and do this to club (including sale fares), though from economy to premium economy you do need to book an SFU.

Also worth noting you have to book the flight direct with BA
