Check if you can get it cheaper where you are

Just a quick note to say i have been with npower on dual fuel paid by direct debit for a while. I checked on uswitch to see if i was getting the best deal, it said that british gas could save me £65 per year by switching but npower could save me £64. I rang npower and within 2 minutes was on the latest best tariff with no penalty. Sometimes just beating your incumbant up for a better price is the easiest way.

I agree with nibblescars.
We were on Click 5 with British Gas. I received an email telling me that prices on this tariff are going up and so decided to do a comparison.
USwitch and Energy Helpline both suggested Click 6 (never heard of it!).
I looked at this on the BG website and....surprise, surprise, it was cheaper than my existing tariff.
I phoned BG, who immediately offered to change me to the cheaper tariff but said that they did not do this automatically as "online customers are used to using the website and would see the difference for themselves".
This seems such an unfair situation, but of course, that's why good old UK is in the mess that it is......GREED.
