The Humax 9200 has the advert skip and you can change the amount of time you want it to skip the default is 30 secs but can be more, just a simply click a couple of times and ads have gone. I heard on Radio 4 the other day there trying to get the rules change for product placement because technology is now advanced that viewers can skip ads.
  • I've just switched on my Technosonic PVR101 and am getting "NO CHANNELS FOUND PLEASE CHECK ANTENNA CONNECTION". The signal is ok because I have just disconnected my Aldi Tevion freeview box. Yet another unit going back to Aldi tomorrow. I wonder what the failure rate is - 95%???.

I had the very same problem with my first box,So i took it back for another one which seems to be working fine. It hasnt shown any of the other reported problems or bugs

Got similar problem with mine. I turn the power on and the display says boot then nothing else happens. It won't respond to the buttons on the main unit or on the remote control. Am I being daft or is it a dodgy one? Wouldn't mind but I waited from 8.30!!

When I first plugged mine in I thought I got no responce but found out that the scart is set to RGB by default and my TV wouldn't take the RGB signal so all I got was a black screen. So to get it going I use a phono to scart lead on the phono connections on the back then once setup, I changed the scart output to CVBS and in then worked from the standard scart lead.

    What codes are they mate?

If I can get the Digifusion for that bit more I think I'd take this one back.

I got a 5% off code from the voucher section on here...plus I have an Egg credit card which gives 5% cashback on purchases from Currys online. If you don't have an Egg card and want the best price and can wait then this link may be useful when it is in stock

They also have the Fusion 100 model in stock at around £120 inc delivery. I think this shows the Aldi model is not as great a bargain as first thought.

    Thanks Dr Nick

Had a few glasses of wine now, but will try again tomorrow. Haven't got a phono to scart lead, so might have to buy one from Argos. Will let you know how I get on.

    Cheers.

    Cheers buddy,

though I think the aldi model is decent for the price, the bugs (no sound on ITV without flicking about) and not being able to record two channels/chase play is making me want to go for the Digifusion FRVT200.

I made a decision to buy the Fusion 200 on a whim because the Aldi one was causing me to stop doing my work (I am a contractor) so the extra £60 was not really I huge issue though I like to save money. However, I am more convinced I have made a good choice ... there is a whole thread on the model here if anyone is interested.... reliability and chaseplay being the major pluses over other contenders (which seem to be Humax 9200 and Topfield)

I just hope Currys actually have the stock because when I ordered it it said 'In Stock' but the order confirmation email said 'subject to availability'.

What amazes me is the quality control these machines must go through. I have had 2 machines for a few hours each and one had obvious bugs within 1 hour (which many others experienced) and the other had a non-functioning hard disk (which thankfully only a few experienced).
