Bankrupt Iceland
More than 100,000 residents of the Netherlands have accounts in the failed Icelandic bank, Icesave. Finance Minister Bos and Central Bank President Wellink also sought to reassure Dutch people with deposits in Icesave that they will get everything up to 100,000 euros back, one way or another.

That doesn't mean to panic and all start withdrawing, i'm sure the Dutch government would do what it can, but maybe a good idea to keep an eye on how things develop.
Dutch banking and insurance company ING is to receive a cash injection from the government of the Netherlands

The same could happen to 8 banks in the UK as they're part of the scheme to get government help. I'm still undecided as my alternative is Nationwide as that's who I bank with.0

Looked up the dutch equivalent of bbc and it says on there 'they are likely to want to use the 20billion euros of government help'. Decision to be announced at press conference at 8pm tonight. Press conference is joined head of De Nederlandse Bank (equivalent of bank of england), responsible Minister and a head of ING.0 -
According to the news at 6pm the Dutch gov are putting money into ING.
I have money still with them via KE so I am hoping everything will be ok0 -
Without pointing the finger, are we all going to panic again? This is a worldwide financial crisis, it's going to have repercussions and by our jumping ship everytime the media wave that red flag we help create instability. The British govt gave our banks a cash injection. Why then shouldn't the Dutch govt do the same? Wasn't there mention last week of a French bank in the same position. ING are only in our media spotlight because they took over KE and it's a hot topic. Big institutions are reporting losses daily at the moment so it's not surprising that ING have joined in. I for one am not going to turn the 'ING' thing from a molehill into a mountain.
As an afterthought, Wheelz mentioned Nationwide as an alternative. Yeah gods, if you read the KE chaps thread you'll see how high!!! Nationwide come on the list of 'banks to be happy with'..0 -

ING Groep NV, the biggest Dutch financial-services firm, will get 10 billion euros ($13.4 billion) from the Netherlands after the company said last week it will post its first quarterly loss.
I personally don't do molehills I leave that to the experts.0 -

The FT reported on Oct 15 that Rabobank, Holland's largest savings bank, is refusing to help fund the rescue of Dutch Icesave depositors....
Threat to Dutch savers in Icesave (FT, Oct 15)
Perhaps that was what you read?"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."

I agree with Elbe it's all a media circus. I must say I was v surprised to find ING so widely broadcast in the british media. It's not normally that easy to find dutch news in english even if something really big has happened. Having thought about it it's only because of the KE rescue. Anyway my normal bank is Nationwide and I'm still not so sure that british banks are all so much better so might leave it in there for the moment. They could be the next one on the list to be rescued and then what. I could have left my money in a high interest account.0

The market is relieved.
Yahoo link - ING shares up over 20% at 8.51 a.m.
The wider markets are also up 1%+
That should calm a few nerves on here.
It's not looking like "Black Monday" so far.
