Are You Leaving It In ING

Where did you see that cos69? EDIT: Just saw the link in dan2097's post.
I'll be putting mine into ING itself, except in the unlikely event that the KE instant access rates are higher.0 -
If I hadn't lost money to Icesave, I'd put the money I'd transferred back into ING but since I don't know when I'm going to get the Icesave money back, I need 100% security on the other money right now0

Problem with the KE instant access rates is they can be reduced quite quickly. Suspect that ING will migrate all KE accounts into its own business - not sure KE is going to be a good brand for savers."How could I have been so mistaken as to trust the experts" - John F Kennedy 19620 -
I am leaving my money with ING in the ING Direct Internet account.
It's 'new money' as mentioned below and I was e-mailed by ING about this on 22.9.08 thus:-
Well I feel a whole lot better about ING now. Orange type does it for me every time.
Remember what the Dutch PM said about the Icesave investors in his own country?
It is very unlikely that ING will go t's up, but all the same, the Gov. attitude was pretty awful. Our own government are "helping out" Uk Icesavers.
Many are steering clear of non-UK savings accounts for the moment.
Mind you many are highly hysterical, and who can blame them?
When you have spokesmen folk from HL spotting the 4 horseman of the Apocalypse riding over the hill on National News.....

Honestly, you'd have thought he had a bet on at Ladbrokes......0 -
I'm sticking with ING as long as the rates stay good, but I'm spreading my cash more (way, way under the 50k) to prevent cash flow problems should the same happen to them as to KE.
This is the same approach I took with KE in the first place.
I cannot believe the Govt. would take from KE just to give to another bank that was totally unsound. That makes no sense. ING are pretty highly regarded as a safe (as far as such things go these days) bank.
Let's see how long the Trolls take to start stirring dissent about ING... trollING if you will :rotfl::o0 -
One thing that is perhaps not so obvious about ING is that they are a normal High St bank in a number of countries. The Icelandic banks were pretty much confined to their own, small, country, but ING branches are all over the place in Europe, much as Barclays etc are here. I'm not trying to be patronising, I'm sure most people know this, but it seems to me a significant difference. It's not just a Dutch bank, its a European one.0

I've tried to transfer a small amount today to my linked account, just to test it out. If all is well I will transfer my accessible KE out to a UK bank/ building society, just in case of any problems / delays with a foreign bank. As far as fixed term deposits are concerned, I'm waiting to see what Ing says about interest rates, t & c etc, for the moment, and watching this space.0

I said in a thread the other day that I'd leave it a while and see what 'the word on the street is'. I guess the above is the word on the street!
I'm feeling quite comfortable about things at the moment. I do have doubts about it not being FSCS registered - I'd rather deal with my own county's authorities if it all goes wrong. Which was why I was happy to go with KE. But now I'm there, and having read up a bit about ING, I'm feeling fairly comfortable, as I say.
I'm not sure what the problems have been that are referred to above. I daresay ING didn't know too much about it themselves until our Government asked them to step in. It's been remarkably unchaotic from where I've been standing. But then I didn't transfer any money out - although I came pretty close a couple of times. Hope that those of you who did get it sorted soon.0 -
6 Days ago I did a CHAPS transfer to empty my KE account, still waiting. It left KE immediately but is currently sittting Who knows where!!
Icesave is a Lucky escape and a HUGE warning that our money is not safe in foreign banks.
Maybe you should have sat tight till the air cleared instead of adding to the panic merchant backlog....which obviously would have made any transitions more complicated, not the most simple take over in the world, I'm sure.
Maybe your money has ended up in one of the rock solid pure prime british banks.....or northern rock.
That way you will sleep easy for sure!0
