Going to Cuba next week. Do they have a network?

Please help. Does Cuba have a mobile network? If so, what is the cheapest payg sim I can get to phone home on Christmas day? :xmassign:

Yes Cuba has GSM network(s)

To find if UK network has roaming agreement go to

Then individual network websites should give you roaming charges.


All international calls (mobile or landline) going out of Cuba are very expensive (is a form of Government revenue raising). Not sure how this impacts roaming charges, likelihood is that Cuba would be in "high band" for any roaming charges by a UK network.

But I would not hold my breath on likelihood of getting a connection out of Cuba on Christmas Day. Queuing and waiting for lengthy periods for any service is part of the accepted culture. But equally there are many wonderful facets of Cuban culture/society.

i have a payg phone on O2, and it worked in cuba no probs - coverage was better than i get in here in the UK

texts and calls seems to have been charged at my normal UK rates too

however calls from public phones in hotels worked out at about £4 per min
