Have had scaffolding put up for what was suppose to be 6-8 weeks so I rung Sky to cancel for that period to save some money, was advised it would be 30 days notice which I didn't know about. Anyway because of this I decided to go down to the basic package because I was unsure how long the scaffolding would be up for at the time. Anyway the scaffolding went today and My signal returned and I noticed all the sports channels are still working. So i rung them and their computer is telling them I rung to cancel but decided not to in the end which im furious about, I don't want to cancel for good but I am really annoyed, I don't have money to waste like this, it about £20 quid difference for the month, any advice please.
Thanks

Hi como setas
i always find that to get what want from sky is to phone up and cancel, dont go through customer services or queries, select the option "if your thinking about leaving us press number......" i have done this on 3 occaisions over the last 2 years;-
£75 saved with a faulty box repair
£60 free subscription upgrade
£15 new remote control
these guys work in a competitive market and are assessed against retention rates.
they will do one of the following;-
- accept your cancellation, then bombard you with junk mail asking you to return, promising free subscriptions etc, getting your money back
-cancel the charges
-reduce the next 3 months subscriptions to balance out the overpayment
hope this helps ;-)Every day is a school day :T:T:T0 -
Just say you want to cancel!
Weve had Sky for two years, and decided a couple of months ago we wanted Sky Plus.
My partner rang them up and said "We want to cancel please. We're never in when our programs are on." (we didnt really want to cancel)
They said "Have you thought about sky plus?"
We said We wernt going to pay the extra.
so, we got it for £30 (cheaper than Sky employees!! They get it for £45 I think) and we also got free line rental for the home phone off them for a year - thats £120!!
In other words, they'll give you their wife and kids to stop you cancelling!
Ring up. Complain. No Joy?? Try and cancel. They'll throw money at you!

Oh, their usual tactic is three months half price, but I think they will only grant things like that twice a year.
My partners friend is being harrassed by them to go back to them, two years after he cancelled!!
