so many argumentative people on this board.
i'm sure some people just come on for their daily rant!
while this makes amusing reading its just so annoying you cant all get on.
do others agree? whatever happened to sticking to the original topic rather than having personal quarrels?

It suits some posters' agendas to cause diversions and arguments to take attention away from answering an OPs question.0

I do agree the subject can go off track at times0

Its all a result of the supermarkets making vast profits at the customers expense. If you don't like it, just don't shop there. And cue the defence from uktim.0

As I've said many times before they have around a 3% to 5% profit margin. That is one of the lowest of any industries. So the amount of money they make on turnover is infact very small, some of them just have very high turnovers.
Don't believe me the profit margin is that low, look here!
http://www.bized.co.uk/compfact/ratios/ror12.htm
Company Profit Margin
Safeway 4.14%
Morrisons 5.87%
Tesco 5.72%
Marks & Spencer 3.91%
J Sainsbury 3.61%
What the vast profit at the customers expense bit is I don't know. They spend their money there yes, the goods overall are sold at very low margins, and??????????If you don't like it, just don't shop there.

My point is that some of the incidents on Vent are the result of the OP's stupidity, ignorance or simply not knowing. There's no crime in being stupid, ignorant or ill informed.
What grates me about Vent are:
(1) Those who shout RIP OFF when there is no rip off.
(2) Those who want a refund because the price has been reduced after they have purchased.
(3) Those who have unrealistic expectations - I bought a 5 year old car, the head gasket has gone, and I'm going to scream, shout, at the dealer and the car maker until they fix it. I'm going to contact my MP, Trading Standards, Watchdog etc etc.
Number (3)s annoy me the most because they sometimes get what they want, not because they are being reasonable, but because they've harangued the dealer/maker so much that they will do anything to get rid of the prat. But in doing so they destroy goodwill for those with genuine claims and some companies may treat genuine folk incorrectly because of the screaming prat. The man without a signature.0 -

some of the vents are like the 1 above is where the OP hasnt thought about it and they want the difference back0 -
It's simply because it's a board where so many people come to complain when they are in the wrong and don't want to admit it/can't see it.Bought, not Brought0

The car should be sold in good working order and road worthy, and if the head gasket goes after a week or two then that is not a reasonable amount of time for something which could cost up to 6k to last.
There is no excuse to steal from a customer and a good used car dealer will do the work with out question and many do if it results in trading standards getting invloved then the company should be named and shamed as a warning to other customers at the end of the day if the seller is correct then he need not do a repair, but they cant expect to sell and walk away i would also add the customer should take out a 3/6 month warranty also.0
