BT Broadband and phone line - diff account holders

Hi all.

Looking at broadband for the first time after years of dial-up.

The BT landline is in my mum's name and she pays all of this as I only use my mobile for calls. Can i get BT Broadband but have the broadband in my name and paid from my bank account?

Many years ago I did the same thing as you are trying. Although I wasn't with BT Broadband. The other company never even asked me about who paid the land line or who the name of the account holder was.

So it is possible, just dont go telling them in case they aren't happy trusting you.

But seriously reconsider picking BT as your broadband provider. They are complete rip-off. Only good if you really really really need their telephone support because you are seriously non-technical and wont have a clue how to set it up. Even then, make sure you switch after the first year once it's up and running.

I'll look at other providers I think based on your comments and others online!

Is it a general situation with say Tiscali, Orange, whoever you get broadband from that the broadband account holder doesn't have to be the BT line holder?
