The 1% milk at Sainsburys is back on offer at £1 for 4 pints. Doesn't look like its on offer, so this looks like a permanent deal. !!

i have frozen semi skimmed milk for about 8 years now (not the same bottle of course for all those wise crackers out there) ive kept it frozen for 2-4 weeks and it tastes and looks the same, but you must let it slowly defrost overnight
or put it in cold water if you need it that day

Freezing

• Skimmed and Semi skimmed are best for freezing.
• However, I freeze whole milk every week without any problems.
• Breakfast milk/gold top (and cream) do not successfully freeze.
• I've never frozen anything larger than 2 pints so can't comment

Defrosting

• Leave in cool place or fridge for overnight/24 hours
• Place the bottle upright in a dish in case the plastic splits (especially important for whole milk)
• This has only happened once in the past couple of years but sod's law says it will happen the one time you forget!

Using

• Use as normal within 2/3 days
• If you are forgetful, mark the date that you open the bottle because obviously the use by date on the bottle will be wrong!
• I've seen people use a little out of the bottle of partially defrosted skimmed milk when they are too desperate for a cup of tea and can't wait for full defrost. It's watery but you probably won't notice as skimmed always tastes watery!
