My OH has told work but she has to wait for official confirmation from the nurse(mid wife) before they accept it officialy ?
She has to be a lot further on than this before the midwife gives her a MATB1 form. Her employer isn't obliged to 'do' anything before they get that, except do a risk assessment on her job, and let her have paid time off for her ante-natal appointments.

However, they should give her a copy of their maternity leave policy. Even if it's just a statement of "We do what the government says we have to do ..."

I miscarried the week before last at just under eight weeks. We had told family and close friends and it was great to have their support, so I think you should tell selected people (I had also told my work who have been fab in letting me have time off to recover and get over it mentally) but do also be aware that there is quite a high chance of losing the baby. The risk drops at 6, 10 and 14 weeks as I understand it, and it is only a 2 per cent chance of losing it once you know you have a heartbeat. not that I want to be a downer, but we didn;t think it would happen to us and it did, so maybe don't make too many plans this early. :A
