This morning, I googled icesave and I came to this link:

It might be a relief for some people.
However, I take this as.... someone who is trying to exploit our misery!
I think that's absolutely appalling and have sent a complaint to the Law Society. I wonder, though, whether I will get any response.

I suppose it shows how desperate solicitors are at the moment - with no houses to sell, they're resorting to as you say charging £450 to fill a form in.

£450 for 1 form? I'm in the wrong business, I tell you!!!:rotfl:

That is disgusting. Just for filling in a form that doesnt require legal advice.

It is "possible" that they could be breaking the rules as well. What they are doing sounds like it would fall under the claims managment regulations and that requires registration and authorisation with the Ministry of Justice.

They are not listed on the claims managment authorised register.
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.

I used to work for solicitors - mostly criminal law. I once heard one of the lawyers refer to a 14 year old delinquent who was always in trouble as a 'repeat customer'. Meaning that they made a neat little bundle in legal aid defending this little sod who was in court four or five times a year.

Lawyers are of course necessary, but there are far too many of them making a living out of people's misery and being callous about it. Ambulance chasing, and now also frozen-account chasing which can be sorted without their 'help'. I find it despicable that some of them deliberately mislead the public in order to make money.
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

Not quite sure when I decided to get quite so "activist", but that has seriously p***** me off. Mainly because its going to be the naive etc. that fall for it.

I have also just sent off an email, to the Legal Complaints society, the FSA, and the SRA (solicitors regulation authrotiy, apparently). Didn't even know that the first and last existed until I just went out and googled a few things....

Don't expect a response, but you never know.

If anyone wants to do likewise, you could at worst use as a rough template the following. Just don't use exactly the same words. The email addresses I used are:
enquiries@fscs.org.uk,
enquiries@legalcomplaints.org.uk,

Hi,

I'm sure the following is entirely legal.

http://www.prsavingsteam.co.uk/index2.htm

However it is ridiculously unethical. Given that the government has still not announced finally how the compensation schene for savers in IceSave is going to operate, what on earth do these guys think they can bring to the table? Short answer is nothing; except they are hoping money from desperate individuals who are still extremely concerned as to when and how they are going to get their money back. Given that the compensation scheme will operate through the FSCS, who won't be charging, what on earth are these guys doing suggesting they can help? The real issue here is that those who fall for this are likely to be those who can least afford it (I'm trying to be diplomatic). This is the worst form of bottom fishing. Or in more legal terms, since the process for reclaim is still not decided, this amounts to misdleading representation, since de facto they have no clue as to what value they can add, and they are in virutally all certain probability going to hav no more 'power' than an individual claiming through the FSCS.

Totally outrageous ambulance chasing.

Now, if they have some real value add they can bring to Corporate depositers, then they should be making very clear "All retail depositers should make their claims direcetly to the FSCS or as advised in due course by the government; our service is aimed at non-retail depositers who will have more complicated claims to make".

But of course they don't say that because they are hoping to trawl up naive individuals that actually think these guys can in some way help.

Somebody should be stomping on this ASAP.
• Like Ealing I've just shot off an email to the SRA enquiring whether it is within their code of conduct. If I get a response I'll let you all know.
• I have also just sent off an email, to the Legal Complaints society, the FSA, and the SRA (solicitors regulation authrotiy, apparently).

You didn't happen to accidentally CC prsavingsteam@philipross.com as well did you?

;)

(Wondering if they're savvy enough to have a Google alert or similar, and we should expect a new member of philipross coming on here to defend themselves.)

All you busybodies must have too much time on your hands if you are off submiiting complaints to all and sundry about something that doesn't even personally affect you
