  • Had a really nasty experience at the offie this evening; the guy actually chased me out the shop and started shouting abuse across the street, after refusing to serve me despite me giving him numerous chances. I ended up almost in tears.

But what were you doing to cause such a response?:confused::confused:

Why can I only see pub RE jobs which I don't fancy still waiting to do my first job for them

I think that you may need to do one of those pub jobs in order to get off probation and be able to see the better ones.

Nothing. I said he was being really aggressive and intimidating (I even have another customer as a witness) and he just shrugged and said, "Do Ilook like I care?" ALl this will be shown on CCTV because I am sure he'll try to lie his way out of it.

Excellent news - sorry about your experience but this is exactly why I like MSing so much as these are the situations we all enjoy reporting on! :D
  • Hi folks - i am new to mystery shopping and have a couple of questions...

I understand about regsitering as self employed and completing my tax return etc, but i wondered how this is affected by for example being with a company like GFK or RE who aren't PAYE mixed with TNS who are PAYE... is this going to make it complicated in terms of completing my taxes? Does this mean i am employed by my full-time job, and by the PAYE firm but freelance/subcontracted by the non-PAYE firm? :S

Also, I am not currently with RE but am about to sign up. I know Timmne mentioned referrals so i wondered if anyone wanted to take advantage of this newbie signing up :) (I am sorry if this question isn't supposed to be in this thread - i thought it would be ok as i am offering the opportunity for someone else to gain from my sign up)

    Thanks :D

Same here  Nothing close enough to me to be worthwhile doing.

Also, yesterday I deleted some of my defined areas because I'd added places I very rarely go to and that meant I was seeing jobs that were too far away and very few local jobs. Today I'm still seeing jobs in Rhyl etc. The most southerly place I've got left on my list is York and I'm pretty sure Rhyl is more than 50 miles away from York. I thought these defined areas were supposed to update at midnight on the day you make the change?

TNS are no longer PAYE - They swapped to the Independent Contractor System this financial year - so thats makes it easier / more difficult according to how you like to work - I find it more tricky with them not being PAYE as I have to factor their mileage contributions into my overall MS travel costs now whereas before when it was PAYE you could forget about it. If you do have an additional PAYE employemtn through MS though, you simply enter the P60 details they send at the end of the year as a seperate entry into yout Self Assesment and the online form works it out - Tax will be at Base Rate 22% for PAYE MS Work is if is a second job so to speak.

So example,w hen I did my tax returns, I would have 3 income entries -

    Main Job
    TNS
Mystery Shopping Business - Combined (Self Employed)

PM for RE referral if you fancy!
