Tiscali Broadband

Hi all,
I need a bit of advice. I cancelled my Tiscali broadband service after around three months at the beginning of the year after poor service. The speeds i was getting were well below those advertisied. After abit of arguing they agreed to cancel the contract.
They sent me a bill for £40 for internet usage and phonecalls. I rang them and agreed to pay £20 for the phone calls and they agreed to drop the other £20 as the broadband service was poor. This was back in May this year.
However I recieved a letter last week demanding the other £20 or the debt would be passed onto a debt collection agency. I rang them again to explain what happened. Quoted the ladies name i had spoken to, the amounts and dates involved. They have now said that it will be passed back to another department and will take a couple of weeks. I think this is shocking.
They say that the refund was rejected the first time as i had good internet service, if that was the case then why did they agree to cancel it.
Where do i stand? Can they demand this money off me after accepting the money earlier?
I would be thankful for your thoughts

Write to the Managing Director with the details and tell him that if he doesnt resolve it within seven days you will refer the matter to the OTELO Ombudsman.
Its sounds clear that you cancelled it because you were receiving a sub-standard service and that someone representing Tiscali told you that the money would be refunded.illegitimi non carborundum0 -
I am having a long-running battle with Tiscali at the moment as they withdrew money from my account earlier in the year and haven't yet refunded it - may have to get tough with these cowboys0

Try OTELO or really go for them in the Small Claims Court at the local County Court will see you rightillegitimi non carborundum0
