Are you laying it yourself?? If you are B and Q at Castleford near the Xcape have rolls of turf for £1.24 each. It's half ususal price. Near bought it myself but have been looking and it seems cheap.

    Hope this helps

  • Thanks - Castleford isn not really that close, I'm in Huddersfield, but we do have a big B&Q here so I'll check out if they have the same deal. Thanks for the suggestion

I bought B&Q turf in the spring, although I paid £2.50 a roll. It was excellent, none died, and is now really lovely fine lawn.

I've got homebase turf for the same price.

Just make sure you lay it as soon as you get it and water it every day. Even if it's raining unless it's a heavy down pour the turf won't get enough water.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

I personally would avoid B&Q turf as it will have been cut a good while before it gets to you, but that said krisskross did ok, so maybe just make sure you get there on the day they get it delivered to get the fresh stuff....

I would try and find a dedicated supplier though. check out your local free paper, or this link might help

Or have a look on yell.com....

The dedicated places grow good thick healthy turf, will deliver and it will have been cut the same day...

Think mine cost £1.60 per square metre plus £10 delivery... bargain, especially after I wasted months trying to seed it and making a mess!

the turf growers association website has a list of suppliers and websites, quite a few around yorks/Lincs. they have set standards of turf quality as ana agreement between them all so it's usually good quality.
  • Thanks all. As it turned out, B&Q weren't doing the same deal in my area so I got in touch with a turf specialist through Yell.com. Got 60 square metres in the end and will be paying £142. Not bad, cheaper than I expected really and the delivery is free which is even better!

Thanks for the help and advice. It's being delivered on Monday morning so we'll lay it straight away and keep watering it as often as we can.

Good luck, its not easy doing all the watering each night, I soon got bored but carried on and it was worth it for the end result... on the link I gave above it has a video of how to lay it etc... if you haven't prepped the ground already, you better get moving.

    Have fun!

    hi,
anyone got any recommendations for cheap quality turf supplier? I'm in Sheffield, but a lot online seem to cover wide areas.
I need about 20 square meters, it's only a small garden.
    many thanks
