  • Write down all the things that stress you and then divide into list A) things you can do to influence the situation and list B) things which are oustide your control. Doing something about the things in list A puts you in control and will lower your stress levels. Refusing to get stressed by anything on list B will lower your stress levels. Having said that moving house is way up there in the stress league table and can never be a stress free acitity. List A will contain things like decluttering and sorting either practically or on paper and list B will contain things like waiting for mortgage approval. A practical tip is that when you find yourself feeling stressed, honesly identify what the stressor is and if it's in list B immediately start thinking about list A and doing something about the stuff on there.
If you like to be organised mindmapping can help and there's a free application on the called Freemind sorry can't remember the url but you can ind it through google. Hope this helps, good luck.

Don't worry Loui I'm feeling stressed as well about moving house.

We have accepted an offer on our house and have had our offer accepted on another house.

Just try to keep on top of things when they arrive and get them turned around as soon as possible to give the solictors, surveyors and banks etc the best chance to do their work.

Things will get held up in those organisations, especiialy this time of year when the country slows down and people take time off.

The mortgage processing team at your bank etc will have loads of illness and holidays in their staff so just take care of your end and hope that you have got good staff working on the house for you and other buyers/seller are not dragging their feet.

Our chain is small thank god, would hate a long chain thats for sure.

  • Can I join the club? Although I'm in the "please let them accept the offer!" stage.
Still wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!
  • Can I join the club as well? I'm exchanging this Friday and completing the next, haven't even started packing yet, my husband is working solid until the move and I have a toddler that won't let me do anything....aaaahhhhh!
  • Loui, did you check your other thread about finding out the age of a house? The site you gave isn't accurate!

I'm not moving house but boy, do I get stressed. I just walk - no reason, just seems natural. Walk anywhere, even pace up and down (that stresses out OH!). Best to get out. The problem(s) don't go away but my head gets clearer, plus I get exercised, tired and can sleep. I can sympathise, done my share of moving, should be a gibbering nervous wreck by now!! Hope all your moves go well.

    Can I join this club?

We managed to sell our house after 9 months on the market and we managed to find our dream house at a really low price. No other chains involved.

Ideal, you would think so, but I am stressing about the home buyers survey on our house (in 2 weeks) as our garden is way too boggy and I think this may put them off.

Just found out my husband is on a probation period and we might not be able to get out mortgage!

There are a couple of other things too, but I have taken the very good advice of somebody from this forum - WHAT WILL BE WILL BE!

Make sure you are always on top of things from your side (with solicitors, estate agents etc), and dont let anything slip. For the things you can't do anything about - well you just have to chill and hope for the best.

We lost out on a really nice house 6 months ago and thought we would never find one better. We were gutted at the time, but have actually found a WOW house now so are glad it slipped through! It was obviously not meant to be, just hope this one is!

Now, need to go, take my own advice and chill out a little!

  • It is good to run with your intuition and gut feelings re houses. Within one year we sold, rented and then bought our new house. In the meantime we put a reservation on a house in cumbria, other side of the country, but the seller (builder) started pushing us so we backed out as we/I felt that if it was meant to be then there would not be such obstacles. We passed this place by accident, only 3 miles from our own home. We had never called in but it is stunning. We use 55 acres of parkland as part of the lease. It is a dream come true

In the last 18 months OH has had both hips replaced, I re-homed a horse, chickens and 3 gorgeous cats. It has been stressful but things are meant to be and it is important to go with the flow. This summer I had to find a house for one of my offspring and her OH. Based in army abroad. So more stress even though I was more detatched.

How did I survive? well I put a bubble around myself and only now am coming out of it and starting to go with the rythymn of life. Living amongst all these trees here has helped me no end.
