Great 'Xmas pressies with loyalty points' Hunt

Jewellery, magazine subscriptions, annual Alton Towers passes: there are sackfuls of Xmas presents you can buy with loyalty points.

If you’ve a stash of Tesco Clubcard, Nectar, Boots Advantage or other points, this is the perfect way to treat loved ones, without spending hard cash.

How to take part?

Simply click reply and talk about your ideas. The more details (how many points needed - what the goods £££ value is) the better.

Tesco Clubcard Golden Rule

Do remember the Tesco Clubcard golden rule: never ever redeem vouchers in-store. Redeem vouchers on Tesco's special Clubcard Deals Brochure and points values increase four-fold.

For tricks to get more from loyalty points, read the Loyalty Schemes guide. Also check out the Christmas MoneySaving guide.

I've always found magazine subscriptions through Tesco deals to be good. Order them now to ensure the recipient gets the January edition. Then they get a christmas gift that lasts all year.

I'ved also used Tesco Clubcard vouchers for annual magazine subscriptions for Xmas pressies this year, what a bargain! They have a pretty good selection of titles too...

    http://www.tesco.com/clubcard/deals/browse.aspx?N=4294966467&bid=HMagazines

You can use Boots points on all the 3 for 2 deals in store for Xmas so you get even more value from your points!!!

  • I did my tesco points xmas shopping list at the weekend - hope you don't all nod off while reading it :o

Nan - Radio Times subscription £15 tesco vouchers
Mum - Woman& Home subscription £9.90 tesco vouchers
3 teenage girls - Sugar subscription @ £6.90 tesco vouchers each
Son - Transformers subsciption £8.45 tesco vouchers

3 x brothers/sisters where I normally buy for their children - bowling gift vouchers - (I checked and you can exchange your vouchers for gift vouchers so you don' have to give the tesco vouchers to them)
    2 x adults & 1 child £28
    2 x adults & 2 child £35
    2 x adults & 3 child £44

So in total £25 tesco vouchers + £7 cash or £27.50 tesco vouchers and loose a couple of quid - Do check with your local ten pin bowling that they have gift vouchers and they'll accept the tesco vouchers as payment. I checked with the head office first who said yes - ordered my tesco vouchers, went yesterday to buy my gift vouchers to be told that they didn't accept them for gift vouchers - luckily I'd thought to print a copy of the original email from head office and take it with me so they honoured what I'd been told. So make double sure before you order your vouchers just in case!

I had been saving the vouchers to try and pay for a holiday next year so have £150 worth but we haven't got the cash to add to them for a decent holdiay, and we were considering cancelling Christmas for everyone but our kids so I was very excited when I thought about how many pressies I could get with my stash - the presents are much more generous than I would normally give if I had to find the money so everyone wins! I may consider using the double up points to get some wine in as well but only if desperate as its not such a good deal and the x4 value.

Also forgot to mention points I've saved through rpoints over the year which comes to £30 to spend at Amazon! I always make sure that any house, car insurance, next or laredoute orders, go through rpoints first.

Hope it helps someone else and may I be the first to wish you all a Happy Christmas! :rotfl:

This year i am buying my OH a helicopter flight from boots using my points £200 / 20,000 points.

Half of those points were bonuses from 1000 points on clarins, 500 points urban decay etc also points codes from here and i always shop when they have a spend 50 get 500 points etc

My total so far is 18970, but will be using there online xmas event to get 1500 points when i spend £75

It's only taken me from august time to save up around 15000 points, so start collecting extra points straight away and by next xmas you could have that many too
    Started DMP Oct 2011 - £7082
    Feb 2012 - £6562
    July 2012 - £6112
    Oct 2012 - £5781

I used my Tesco Clubcard vouchers to pay for joint RAC cover for 1 year, saved a fortune!

Those looking to accumulate points: The first lot of this year Christmas Shopping evenings at Boots are Wed 22nd and Thur 23rd October. Receive £10 worth of points for every £50 you spend instore.

Full details and list of which stores are taking place and dates available from http://www.boots.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10052&productId=851307

Remember that this includes mix and match 3 for 2 on christmas gifts. And there is no need for them to be put through the till in a set order should you have a multiple of 3. e.g. you buy six gifts one each at £10, £20, £30, £40, £50 and £60. The till will rank them in order of value, from highest to lowest and give you every third one free. So in the above example, you will receive the £40 and the £10 ones free, NOT the 2 cheapest!

Look out for 2 more events in November. (12-13th November & 26-27th November)

You can now redeem your points for products on boots.com too by ordering instore, so there is a lot more 1000's products available now for you to redeem against including watches, camcorders, more gift experiences etc

Convert tesco vouchers to 'double up' (not as good value as clubcard deals) and buy cases of wine as gifts for people.

£25 in Tesco vouchers = £50 Tesco wine vouchers :D

I usually get a few magazine subscriptions for family members with my Tesco points, but TBH there just aren't any other deals that any of us are interested in :undecided .
My Boots points take ages to add up as I don't spend much in there. I'd never even consider spending over £50 to get a few extra points  and I can't honestly see how you can spend that amount there without going OTT? Anyone with moneysaving tendencies would surely have purchased any toiletries required for Xmas presents well before Boots box them up in tatty gift sets and charge extra for the privilege  ?
As you may have gathered, I absolutely loathe receiving toiletries for Xmas as I regard the few that I do actually use as normal everyday items. Bah Humbug! ;)

I'll not mention my £60 spend and £14 back from Boots in points then :D
