New look of ICESAVE website

Dear All,

This is just to let everyone know that there is some development on the icesave www this morning.

There is no new info. However, I am pleased to see that someone is taking care for us!

Please keep everyone updated through one thread!!

  • Good Spot. Useful links on one page.

Even though I feel uneasy looking at that Icesave logo - it makes me feel sick in the stomach.

Does someone know if they are still replying to the phone? I locked me out of my account (although pretty sure I was using the right info) and entered the wrong email address when I tried to reset my password...
Is it worth trying waiting on the phone (I spend 20 minutes this morning to no avail)?

Its us who have jammed their customer services. I waited this mornung for almost an hour and then went through to get the updates. Its useless to talk to them at the moment.

Poor people... they dont know about themselves at the moment... what can they tell us!

Just as a reminder, if anyone wants a copy of the old website text as at beginning of last week, I took PDFs of all the pages...

You can download zip file here (approx 1Mb)

Thanks, it could be useful. But what exactly has changed in the "new" one? I cannot see a difference except for the message which has been there for a while on the webpage. Or do you see the change only once you log in? (Hence my question on "is it worth spending hours on the phone to try to have my password rest?").

Have you tried refreshing your browser (or clearing your cache)?

The homepage has this text on it:
Update on the status of Icesave

    11 October 2008
    Dear Icesave customer
On 7 October 2008, the Icelandic Financial Supervisory Authority (FME) took control of Landsbanki Islands hf, the parent bank of Icesave. Landsbanki has been put into administration and as a result Icesave is not processing any deposits or any withdrawal requests through Icesave internet accounts.
In a statement on 9 October 2008, HM Treasury stated that the chancellor has put in place arrangements that all retail depositors in Icesave will receive their money in full. ...
    ... etc., etc.,

Ah OK! This text had been there for a while. I thought you were talking about other changes on the webpage. Thanks
  • I have spoken to ICESAVE several times in the last week to reset account details. Always got through quickly and they were always pleasant (although it helps when you wish them luck with their jobs before you launch into a tirade about your savings!).

Thanks! I think I'll try again then! Even if we cannot do any dealing on the account I would feel better if I had access

It'll be the same call centre that deals with B&B online accounts and FirstSave. Along with a heap of other building societies and pre-paid credit cards. Plenty of work for them all. :)
