Philips 11watt energy saving bulbs 10p

Options
Those who missed the 1p promotion at Tesco the other week may like to know that from Monday 20th October, Lidl have 11watt Philips bulbs 5 for 50p.

There must be a real glutt of low energy bulbs world wide. The Electricity Suppliers promotion of free bulbs to look good in the Government's eyes was probably them taking advantage of this over supply, and not being generous.

it says on the box that an 11 watt bulb is equivalent to a 60 watt ordinary but it's not-might be ok for inside a cupboard though or an area where it's dark and want a bit of light.

Our Morrisons are doing these for the same price at the moment, too.

I find the 11w fine for brightness. Got one on the landing, and in the bedrooms:)

A typical 60W light bulb is 560Lm (lumens)

The Philips 11W bulb is 600Lm so marginally brighter ... but you need to leave them on quite a while for them to reach their full brightness.

  • Energy saving lightbulbs can be used instead of regular sunbeds as well you know! I got a lovely tan on my face after swapping my desk lamp for one 6 months ago.... :D

They also have this deal in morrisons, but they also have the 14W (75w equiv) included in the deal.

I bought 20 for 2 quid. My g/f thinks I am strange.
  • Sainsburys slowing catching up too, they are offering 3 bulbs for 99p (60W and 40W only) - Phillips brand

Does anyone know of offers on 18W (100W equivalent) low energy bulbs? In some rooms 60W just isn't enough but 100W equivalent bulbs don't seem to be as readily available as 40s and 60s.
  • Do any of the bulbs on offer have an SES fitting. All the cheap ones seem to be bayonet fitting (including the ones sent to me for free by Southern Electric)

    I think I saw 100W equivilents in Wickes, 3 for 99p
    (or strangely £1.99 each)

Premier, you are right. I bought 3 low energy bulbs in Wickes last week for 99p total. I had meant to post it but it slipped my mind. They had bayonet and screw fittings 100w and 60w equivalents - they were by the tills in the Banbury store
