    Hello,

Here is my experience as an established user of the card.

I purchased/joined when the card was first launched. The main reason for joining was the time that paypal take when you want to transfer funds to your bank account. The paypal card seemed to be a faster alternative to my existing arrangments - NOT TRUE!

I am now on my 2nd card, the first one expired after 2 years. The new card was sent nearly 4 weeks late, but what else can you expect from these cowboys. I contacted PayPal many times. Each time I received conflicting information and various "fob offs", they simply didn't care, or didn't know what they were doing.

Their customer service for the card is the same as their normal paypal customer service, a complete joke.

Since signing up for the card I have made many transfers from my PayPal account to the card, which if you do before 12 midnight is supposed to reach your card by 2pm the following day. This often does not happen and is very unreliable. Contacting paypal is futile. PayPal give the same scripted reply, that "Royal Bank Of Scotland (who issue the card) have had problems to do with a batch transfer and it is their fault", tough luck mate!

I then decided to contact RBS. They deny all blame/liability and advise you to contact paypal. Back to square one. It seems that yet again paypal are untouchable.

COME ON THE FININCIAL SERVICES OMBUDSMAN - DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS SHODDY SERVICE!

4 DAYS AND FUNDS STILL NOT REACHED MY CARD. FUNDS HAVE LEFT MY PAYPAL ACCOUNT AND NOT REACHED THE CARD, THEY ARE IN LIMBO, OR MORE LIKE EARNING INTEREST IN THE PAYPAL BANK.

ZERO HELP FROM PAYPAL OR RBS. IT'S ONLY £285.00 GBP BUT THAT'S NOT THE POINT. PAYPAL ARE EARNING MONEY FROM THIS. IT DOES NOT TAKE MUCH IMAGINATION TO THINK HOW MUCH MONEY IS INVOLVED HERE WITH ALL OF THE OTHER POOR FOOLS LIKE ME WHO ARE AT THE MERCY PAYPAL.

ONE DAY THE POWERS THAT BE WILL HOPEFULLY TAKE A SERIOUS LOOK AT THE WHOLE PAYPAL OPERATION, I'M SURE THAT FRAUD IS RAMPANT THERE.

    AVOID AT ALL COST!

I AM GOING TO CONTACT WATCHDOG, THE UK T.V. CONSUMER PROGRAMME AND URGE ALL OTHER VICTIMS TO DO THE SAME AND VOICE THEIR EXPERIENCES.

    CONCLUSION:

    1) EXTREMELY POOR (NOT WORTH THE COST OF THE PHONE CALL) CUSTOMER SERVICE. DON'T BOTHER TO EMAIL, YOU WILL GET AN ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF RECEIPT - AND THAT WHERE THE COMMUNICATION STOPS!

    2) NO FALLBACK FOR THE CONSUMER

    AVOID AVOID AVOID!

Well, my apologies over the caps but I needed to vent my utter discust over these issues.

    Thanks for reading.

    Dan.

Same problem here, They have £145 of mine that I topped up on Sunday. Still no signs of the money, no help from Paypal and my new shop is really going to suffer cause its my postage money...so none of my parcels have been sent

Don't use PayPal then. The only silly people are the ones that continue to use them!

Is there anyway for people to learn of your bank acct. from pay pal or is it totally safe?
  • I topped up on sunday aswell, kept checking and checking and nothing. i thought ok maybe sunday is not classed as a working day so when half1 tuesday came and still no sign i knew something was wrong.

so decided to call them! was told like 2 months previous that there is a problem with the paypal website blah blah.
rubbish i said, as far as im concerned im not only owed my topup amount(s) but interest on top as far as im concerned i said.

Lady said i can fill out a complaints form for you, i said duck i havnt got the time or money for this and put the phone down! with only £1 credit what would you do?

its now 8.30am wednesday and still no topups in account, i also sent another tenner last night hopeing it would all come through today but im not holding my breath. it would'nt be so bad if i was'nt relying on it but i am. its all the money ive got to my name. i need the money to feed my animals otherwise im going to have to lend elsewhere!!!!

One thing i have noticed is the paypal topup site is no longer accepting new customers for cards :O
i really hope they hav'nt gone bust else we will all lose our monies however big or small.

If i dont get my money im going to open paypal disputes on the 2 transactions (it appears you can)

    Spinifex.
  • Money still not on my top up card today. Called top up customer service, they are saying its paypals fault. Called paypal, they say its top up's fault.

I really don't care whose fault it is, I just want MY money. It is disgraceful that they can do this to people.
  • I have also had problems transferring money. On Sunday i transferred some money, at 2pm the following day i checked and it was not there. I rang their support line and at first they were not aware of any problem! I asked him to check and he came back and said that Paypal had not sent authorisation to PayPal Topup (RBS) and it would clear later that day. I was also told that this would only affect payments transferred on Sunday. I transferred MORE money on Monday and.... guess what? Yep it never showed up on Tuesday. I spoke to them again and they advised me of the PayPal/RBS Authorisation not going through again but still could not give me a definitive answer when this is going to be fixed!!!

This is the second time this has happend. Last time it took 5 days to resolve. I actually opened up a paypal dispute, which ended up being a bad move becuase when they did eventually credit my account they took it out again because of the dispute, but never recredited my PayPal. I had to escalate that to a claim as Paypal & PayPal Topup communications is pretty much zero. Anyway it all got sorted after 2 weeks but was a massive headache.

I know how you others feel, my partner and i have a 7 month year old and have an electric meter. Its end of the month and very tight. Having to reply on ebay profit to get us through but still can't get MY money out!
  • Sundays payment has just come through check your accounts now!!!!!

still waiting for yesterdays topup though!
  • I can confirm Sundays money has come through also. Still waiting on Mondays though. Grr
