  • Fantastic response guys!! No Tk Maxx near me and have spent hours scouring ebay, trouble is that i need a generous 18 or standard size 20. Well, if i'm totally honest, what i really need is a dress to fit a size 14 bottom and size 20 on top (big boobs, say no more!). Happy to settle with a size 18/20 & make neccessary adjustments. The do in question is fairly formal & don't think i can really go down the cocktail route...shame as i had my eye on a nice bustier & pencil skirt! Really going to need a proper ankle length style, no easy feat when the fashion seems to be for shorter styles. what happened to the maxi dress??! Off to the catalogue bargin shop tommorow in Llandudno, will cry if there is nothing suitable there!
November wins...a book, a designer handbag (worth £550 :T) and a game. I am now an addict and thank everyone for taking the time to share and post. :D

i have a amy maxi jersey dress, size 18 that i got from coast, would show a pic but it doesnt seem to be on coast anymore, its a stunning dress though, was a tad too tight on the hips though, great for a big bust

shame that we arent allowed to sell etc on this site as i would happily do that but you could search for a dress on ebay?

when i went to my formal many ladies wore skirts etc, long dresses, short, trousers, bustiers etc
  • ...hmm so do you think that i cuold get away with a bustier & skirt combo then? I was thinking something similar to this http://www.next.co.uk/shot.asp?b=G44&p=3130&s=5&n=Women&pid=421-537&exclude=00B00 - but not this as i'd bought a chiffony bustier on ebay for £3 (inc P&P);) :D

I'm not familiar with the attair of such occassions - i generally live in my pj bottoms!!!

MAUK - thanks for the suggestion, no evening stuff at all on display at my local debenhams & nought online. JUst thought, that maybe i should have asked if there was anything out back. Trouble is don't want to spend a fortune on something to sit in back on cupbaord!

You could always try posting a WANTED on Freecycle - you never know your luck!
