I'm sure if the cops could find something to charge him with they would. ;)

Some police forces kept their spare cash in Icesave...........
  • Is this the guy who said "It is hard to conceive of a situation where an Icelandic bank would go bust,' said Mark Sismey-Durrant, managing director at Icesave. 'UK savers have no cause for concern.'

It is unkind. It [STRIKE]probably[/STRIKE] also amounts to criminal incitement to harassment.

Pity its Bedfordshire and not Berkshire. Then it would fall under Thames Valley police, and I'm sure my OH would just LOVE to be in charge of the protection operation, having rolled all her ISAs up into IceSave. Good job this board is anonymous.....

BTW, just think if Beds Police authority did have their money in Icesave...maybe they won't be able to respond because they couldn't afford the overtime/manpower.....now that would be irony.

    Only kidding of course. Ish.

For goodness sake -- we are all human beings. He might be earning a packet but you can be sure that money does not bring happiness ... I have worked in the poorest countries where I have seen the happiest children.

I think this man will be living with enough on his conscience. He nor his family deserve to be treated so badly - it is a nightmare to live like that. I have worked in protection work and seen people killed - it is not pretty and glib comments do not help.

Can you imagine how his wife and children feel receiving death threats - why do they deserve that or to fear their father being hurt.

It may change but so far no private GB person has been told they will actually lose their money. This might change and I hope it does not.

If this was just one isolated incident then one person might bear more responsibility but have you not noticed that banks are collapsing worldwide and we all bear some responsibility for accepting the extra credit cards, accepting the huge mortgages, cashing in on property boom (in "wealthy" countries like the UK), throw away society - Primark clothes - £3 for a year and throw it in the bin!!! All of this contributes but easy to blame one person rather than looking at ourselves.

It is easy to say we did not understand, not our responsibility ... but get real the world is now a different place to the one we grew up in and it should not just be a blame culture. There will be a new set of rules - we should have looked at what happened last time and realised with all the easy credit etc. where this was heading ....

There were some that predicted this but the rest of us were happy enough to cash in whilst the going was good and not question how or why ...

Well Mark Sismey Durrant may still get his comeuppance as we have irrefuteable evidence of serious fraud by Heritable bank via the 1992 cheque act. watch this space.
