I'm still awaiting the letter with a username - I have the email with the Access Token number. Hmm praps it wasn't worth the bother. Once I have the letter I'll see if I can open a fixed rate account with then if I don't have to go through this again for that. At least they will know who I am by then so I'm hoping it'll be the same sign in. I'll phone first I think0

I can't understand that either, and it is a pita shuffling that interest around each month never mind the time it takes to get into somewhere where it's earning again. My only beef with the Saga one, is that the interest is paid into the nominated bank account, instead of being added to the deposit. Don't know why they do that....0 -

It's a long slow process. KE and Icesave completed in a quarter of the time it took for Saga to open up, but consider the story of the tortoise and the hare.
Once it's up and running you'll probably forget about the initial wait/delay.0 -
That's the whole point though isn't it?I just started to open an account online with this and got to the small print in Terms and Conditions.
I backed out when I spotted that the top 5 that they average from to get their own rate excludes all accounts that include a bonus element. It doesn't seem so attractive a prospect now.

Most accounts that offer a short term bonus are loss leaders for the provider. You are basically forced to shop round every time a bonus ends.
What the Saga account does is say "we'll offer you no bonus, but consistent value".
Assuming the wholesale credit markets ease, the number of "bonus" accounts and the size of bonus will become less.
Making Saga an offer of longer term value without having to move your account every 6-12 months.
If you can be bothered, chase the bonus. If you'd rather not, choose Saga.0
