And after paying a fortune out in P&P.zinchead wrote:well, still nothing from Ebuyer.
I have now threatened them with the small courts here in Northern Ireland. Hopefully that will sort it.

Ok, if you see my previous posts on this topic, I now want to take ebuyer to small claims court.
However, I contacted my local courts in Northern Ireland, who say that I cannot take a claim if the company is in Britain.
Can anyone advise me here?

You should be able to claim through the British small claims system
https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk/csmco/index.jspI no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0 -

under the sale of goods act you are entitled to a replacement within the first 6 months of purchasing the item. Some companies will try to fob you off and say that you are only entitled to a repair but this is untrue. I recently had a problem with a mobile phone and the company said they would repair it. As i didn't want it repaired and they wouldn't give me a replacement I went to trading standards. They did try to twist the sale of good act around but eventually they agreed to give me a replacement when they were threatended with court action. Keep on at them and once you mention the dreaded small claims court you should have a replacement within the week.
Just started comping again, wish me luck!!!

I also have had problems with western digital drives ... but then again I have had Seagate, Maxtor, Quantum, Connor and IBM drives fail on me as well. The IBM deskstar are now sold under the Hitachi name. Personally I have been using Toshiba drives lately and so far ... touch wood .. throw salt over shoulder ... look for black cat ... none have failed (what are the odds I will posting before the end of the day to complain that one has failed!!!).roswell wrote:Just a note but i have known many Wester Digital drives to fail they may be well known but thats mostly because they fail, in the past iv stuck to IBM desktars and seagates. remember the old saying " No one ever got fired for buying IBM"

Just another vote for Seagate hard disks. They are about the only manufacturer that provides a 5 year warranty as standard. They're also the drive of choice for the web hosting industry.0

That's a bit of an alarming failure rate. I've had one drive fail on me in 14 years of home computing and that was a Connor, which aren't even made anymore.garrence wrote:Just another vote for Seagate hard disks. That's news to me. I work in loads of data centres haven't noticed a prevalence or bias towards Seagate. As an engineer i've always had quite a low opinion of Seagate HDD's, they certainly used to be the noisiest drives and i've swapped out more of them then any other make.0
