    Hi
one more thing, the below is from Thomas cook so does it mean only allowed 1 bag for the whole party?
You will be permitted one piece of hand luggage per person.

  • what it does mean is that you have to be careful if you usually carry a handbag with passports etc in and a backpack as hand luggage - you have to make sure you leave enough room in the top of your backpack so that you can pop your handbag in before you board the plane! I tend to do this - take a backpack as handluggage, and while I'm in the airport also carry a tiny handbag with just our passports, money to spend in the airport, etc in, then pop my handbag into the backpack once we're called to the gate to board. Some airlines are quite happy to let you board with hand luggae plus a small handbag, but some insist one piece means one piece.

Go with Easyjet, their baggage is 20kg.There hand luggage is supposed to be 5kg,but within reason.I've seen people's hand luggage, and they look to have a lot more than 5kg.
  • I flew with Ryanair over the Summer, and was allowed on the plane with a backpack, handbag and my laptop as hand luggage!

This is one of those things that I find kind of annoying, what you can or can't take on seems to vary so much depending on who you ask, or on the mood of the people you're flying with on the day *sigh* Guess it's best to just err on the safe side as much as possible, or at least stick by the exact letter of what the airline who you're withs T&Cs say *shrug*

Each airline will have a very clearly defined policy on what both hold and hand luggage allowances are, however as you say, what the "allowance" is and what is allowed on the day can vary wildly and the biggest factor there is the airline you are flying with and how strictly they Police the official allowances. :)
