The standard baggage allowance is 15kg per person

hi can someone advice please,
The standard baggage allowance is 15kg per person thomas cook flight,
does this mean if we have 3 cases they can add up to no more than 75kg ? as there is 5 of us,
or do we need a case for each of us with just 15kg in it or is the total all conbined up to that amount ?

15kg each does not seem a lot?

When I booked with another airline even though We were allowed to distribute luggage between 3 cases, that didn't increase the weight limit.
    Which airline?

When I fly, the ticket shows the baggage allowance, for for my flight that is 20kgs, so I can pack 5 bags at 4kgs = 20kgs etc, but be warned some airlines charge per bag extra, as it take longer to load up.

I would suggest you ring the travel company / tour operator and check.

When I have flown we have had luggage allowance for 4 of us of 15kg each (inc 2 children) and have only taken 2 cases. The cases were between 20-25kg each. I rang airline to check and they confirmed that the weight allowance could be combined into less cases providing the overall weight was not more than 60kg (4 people x 15), and no single suitcase was more than 30kg (for lifting purposes).

However, I think the no frills companies such as Ryanair and Easyjet make you keep the actual luggage restriction to the 1 bag per person rule, and each bag can not be more than the given limit, so it depends who you are flying with.

I'd ring the airline just to check.

    Have a good time.

Just got back from US using TC. It was a combined weight baggage allowance they took into account - no need to distribute.
They were VERY strict on excess baggage though - heard several people being charged $100+ :(

  • Ryan air are very tough- one bag each 15kg max, no sharing/cambining a the allowance.

It's a pain as we are 5 but 3 kids (and youngest only 9) and all have to have a case each!

Hiya, we to have booked with Thomas cook for next spring. We had the standerd 15kg, and then upgraded to 20kg for an extra £30 for 2 adults. The hand luggage is 5kg. When we took the 3 kids(now grown up) we took 4 cases and a holdall for extra towels and shoes. I think you need to consider how many cases you can get in the car if you do park and ride like us?
If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
    Spring begins on 21st March.

How could you possibly need to take 75kg of clothes/toiletries abroad?!

On a recent flight, my friend and I decided to take hand luggage only. We took two backpacks (barely bigger than the kind that kids use for school!) and we got everything we needed in there for both of us for a 5 day holiday – this included my handbag and my rather bulky camera bag not to mention an extra pair of shoes (size 12!) for my friend. From experience we've found that we never actually wear most of what we take with us, so we were quite strict when packing. There's no point taking 20 tops if you're only going to wear three of them.

And worst case scenario is that if you really DO need more an extra top or whatever, you'll find that you can buy pretty much anything abroad! ;)
If I don't respond to your posts, it's probably because you're on my 'Ignore' list.
  • thankyou all for the advice and info :-)
  • Hi
one more thing, the below is from Thomas cook
so does it mean only allowed 1 bag for the whole party?

    thankyou

You are allowed one piece of hand baggage only which must not exceed 5kg (11lbs) in weight or 43 cm x 28 cm x 23 cm ( 17 x 11 x 9 inches) in size. Once piece of hand baggage includes handbags, laptops etc, andyone carrying any more than one piece of hand baggage will be refered back to check in
