Scared to reclaim bank charges...

ok, so i'm a bit of a worrier. I don't deal very well with stress as I suffer from depression and any thing out of the ordinary tends to put me into ostrich mode - head in sand! But i'm sure that I have amassed at least a couple of hundred pounds worth of fees. And that would clear off my overdraft and pay a little off of one of my credit cards. Or my boyfriend!
So I'm posting this thread here really to get a bit of support with this whole claiming thing, and some back-up in case it doesn't go according to plan, I'm sure you lovely folks will know what to do!
Step one find out fees for Sept 2002- Sept 2008
(due to being a bit of a hoarder I have all my statements so a bit of work with a highlighter and a calculater should give me a workable figure)
ps I'm claiming from Barclays. Are they likely to be stubborn, or pay up?
Thanks
Laura

If you think it's a couple of hundred pounds then it's probably more, just go for it!0

places of authority and we are brought up to respect authority and not question it. But it's like a bully I think. if you challenge them they scared of you. I am in a similar position as I don't want them to penalise me for standing up to them but I am going to be brave - it works every time.0

step 1- breathe in- breathe out - repeart as neccessary..
now, step 2- get statements for last 6 years- see tenplates.
step3- use the calculator on the main site to work out total due back
its dead easy, just input each charge date and amount, it totals it up for you!
step4- do reclaim letter (tenplate again)
step 5? wait for cheque, or chase after xx days.
STAND FIRM- you will feel much better for doing something, rather then letting the b's get away with your ££.Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

Just what I needed :rotfl: i don't even need to wait for statements as i have them all (i keep everything forever!) I just need to get busy with a calculator!
So next step- find out how much I can get back!0 -

hmmm, just checked Capital One charges and only accrued 1 charge of £20 in 6 years! Yay me, but not really worth claiming! Off to check Barclaycard now, that's definitely more than £20.0

I got side tracked and never got round to checking Barclaycard- will attempt to do it today as I have a fair bit of paperwok to sort out!0

Barclays were easy, paid up without a fight, its Halifax who are right pains grrNo you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!
Thanks to everyone who posts competitions. You are the stars of the board :T:j:T0 -
