  • Would someone be able to help please? My OH is in the middle of fitting us a new kitchen, but has had a mishap with the worktop and now be need to get a new one delivered, which won't be with us til the middle of August. As the old hob had already been taken out, we're now without one for almost a month as it will fit into the worktop.
So..... Can anyone point me in the direction of some cheap and tasty meals that I can do either in the oven, microwave or on a George Foreman grill?
I also have a 6 month old, and have been giving him jars  instead of his usual (our meals pureed) as I don't want him to have the rubbish we've been living on, thing pizzas and oven chips.

If anyone could help I would be really grateful. As well as being a hassle without the hob, it seems all the other food I've been coming up with has been costingus a lot more
    Debts May 09 [strike]£100 Od[/strike], [strike]£1550 boiler[/strike], [strike]£1750[/strike] £400 credit card  Goal - to 3k of savings by Oct 2009 in time for Baby num 2 :j Total so far £1200

Hob is completely out of action for at least 3 weeks.

Have you considered buying a single burner camping gaz stove - I've kept one for years as a fall back for if there are power cuts. I think you can get them for around £15, although I'm sure another SME will know the best place to get one. Maybe you've got friends/relatives who camp, if so maybe they have one you could borrow?

Got one for £10 in Wilkinsons plus £1.25 for Gas but hurry they are getting rid of their summer stocks
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

    Hi Zinger,

Most things that are normally cooked on the hob can be done in the oven, microwave or under the grill so hopefully it won't be to hard to manage until the hob gets sorted. There's an earlier thread on cooking without a hob so I've added your post to it. This thread might be useful too:
