i would say if your feeling poorly , keep it simple.

Thank you for so many amazingly easy and delish sounding recipes. I knew I could count on the OS lot.
No slow cooker either for the one who was asking, I don't really have much gadgets, most sophisticated thing in this kitchen is a hand blender.
and thanks to everyone for the well wishes, the bright side is i don't have to take a day off work for the gas man as i'm ill. :rotfl:0 -
Oh there are so many meals that can be made in the oven that to me losing my oven would be far worse than losing use of the hob
Steak and Onions in gravy cooked until really tender
Cheese and Onion Pie
Roast Chicken and all the trimmings
Toad in the hole
Chicken Chasseur
As for veg theres potato croquettes, baked potatoes, roast potatoes, instant mash or oven chips.

I was really thinking about the 5-a-day aspect when I suggested tinned, and I don't think spuds count! The OP could always make up for it with extra fruit, I suppose.
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

No I stand corrected I thought about adding hints about veg but my post was waffling on a bit and it sounded a bit patronising as it was.But you can put tinned veg in the oven you can also cook frozen cabbage and sweetcorn in the oven by putting them in a covered pyrex dish with a knob of butter.I have also done fresh mushrooms this way and they've turned out lovely
Apologies if I offended anyone

Oh, sorry Lesley if you thought I was being funny
. I really wasn't, honest.
Actually it is an eye-opener to realise how many different types of potato things you can cook in the oven, so thanks for that! :TI haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Oh dont mind me I'm just feeling a little hesitant with being a new girl on the forum I desperately dont want to upset people
Know what you mean though. If you are inventive enough you can cook loads of things in the oven that we usually cook on the hob

Tonight was supposed to be leftover stir fry so changed it to wraps, everything was fine in the oven, just took a bit longer than normal. Stripped the rest of the duck left, warmed it through, warmed the wraps up, chopped up some salad.
tomorrow will be sausages with pasta, bit of onion, sweetcorn and passata with herbs and a bit of stock to cook it up with. Going to have to bulk up fresh fruit intake to make it up to five a day.
You lot have been absolutely lovely. going to try the rice recipe tomorrow.
And potatoes actually count as a vegetable if you have another carbohydrate source.0 -
Hi, I do hope you will feel better soon, what a time to have to go to extra trouble.
My mum used to do a dish in the oven with red cabbage and onion. I know she added a little brown sugar and a dash of vinegar but I'm afraid I don't have any timings.
I had a friend who always used to pop the frozen peas in the oven to cook, but again I don't know how long for, just know she wrapped them in foil.
Sorry I can't be more specific but these were both cooks of yesteryear so I can't ask them now.
