Taking your own food on the plane

Please can anyone help me i know you cannot take drinks on board unless they have been purchased in the departure lounge however can you take your own food either prepared at home or bought in local shops on board plane.
i have previously always taken my own M & S on board to eat that i have purchased locally as we dont tend to like the plane meals, however someone has just told me that you can no longer take you own food through,
i am travelling on monday and now beginning to panic please can someone clarify

thanks

Depends where you are flying and what you are taking.

As a rule, meats and fruits and dairy products tend to be a no. Sweets and munchies seem to be fine.

Taking food onboard flights departing from the UK is fine as long as you don't break the 100ml liquids/pastes rule, however landing in and entering certain other countries with food can be a whole different ball game. :)

    Drinks
You're welcome to take drinks in cans, bottles, plastic containers and cartons, but the containers carnt be over 100ml. They also need to be carried in a transparent and re-seable bag.

    Food
You can carry fruit, vegetables and all solid foods in your hand baggage. However, foods in sauces or with high liquid content(such as sauces, pastes, soups and stews) need to go go in transparent bag, along with your drinks. These cant exceed 100ml either.

I assume you refer to arrival? ... If so that's because you didn't eat it on the flight as the OP intends to. ;)

You aren't allowed to take any of the following into USA, meats, fruits, vegetables, plants, soil, and products made from animal or plant materials.

This is incase they have diseases.

    Countries have their own regulations
