maybe cause iceland have now admitted to him that they do have the money to fund the first 16k.so thats why talks are hap rather than just sending us the forms so comp can be claimed?? i just wish they would make their mind up
I don't see why our government cannot just pay us first though, and Iceland pay them back the equivalent of the first 20,000 euros as and when. This would resolve things much more quickly and easily for us savers and would make the government look better in the eyes of the media too. If there's still 300,000 voters wanting their promised money back into 2009, it's not going to look too good.0 -
IMHO the BBC (and Sky) are one of the reasons that Icesave and Kaupthing Edge failed. The wall to wall 24hr "news" coverage, reporting hearsay and unconfirmed reports just panicked everyone.
The main reason seems to be Iceland's incredible, unbelievable debt....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
