Hi everyone.
I have just bought Microsoft Office and i am having a bit of trouble putting my email accounts on Outlook. I have two email accounts that i want to receive emails from through Outlook, one is a hotmail account and the other is a university account which goes through a server (i think).
When i followed the procedure for my hotmail account i had to download something extra for compatability purposes and everything seemed to go fine but i then sent a test email and i didnt receive it in Outlook, just in my hotmail account.
When trying to setup my university account in the same way it could not find it online. After a few attempts it said that i would have to manually configure server settings which i dont know how to do so i cancelled it.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

I dont believe you can set up outlook to download your hotmail. You might be able though the set up hotmail to forward to another account ie in outlook thereby getting your mail.
You university account you need to get the acount and server settings from the IT people there. Then just enter this info when required durring the wizard set up.This Space Is Available for Rent or For Sale. Please PM For Details.

I may be mistaken, but my hotmail account works both in and out with all versions of outlook, but I've had the account since hotmail started. the later accounts (last 5 years or so) require a subscription in order to use outlook/live mailUtinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0

Thanks everybody!
I have now got my hotmail going to my outlook but when i receive a message via hotmail it does not come up automatically in my outlook inbox, i have to press the send/receive button to get things. Do i have to do this periodically or is there a better way of refreshing? One day, i will be a genius. One day, they will perfect brain transplantation.0 -
try
Tools > Options > mail set up tab > send and receive button
then change the time in the send and receive bit.

Yey, that works!
Thanks Space_Cowby! Now all i have to do is to figure out how to make it ping when i get a new message. Then annoy the IT ppl at uni on Monday for their details to put into my outlook.
Just to let you all know that i have just managed to create a rule on my uni email account that sends all my mail to my hotmail account which in turn goes to my outlook. Going a bit around the houses i know but with the speed of email nowadays it isnt that much of a problem. One day, i will be a genius. One day, they will perfect brain transplantation.0 -
